About The Role We are seeking an experienced Senior Node.js Developer to join our dynamic team working on Warhammer 40,000: Supremacy, an ambitious free-to-play mobile strategy game set in the iconic Warhammer universe. In this role, you will be instrumental in modernizing our backend infrastructure by transitioning from legacy PHP services to robust, scalable Node.js solutions hosted on Google Cloud. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including game designers, product managers, and other developers, to develop, maintain, and enhance backend services that are critical to gameplay, live-ops, and monetization. Your expertise will help ensure our services are performant, secure, and maintainable, providing players with a seamless gaming experience. Qualifications The ideal candidate will have a strong engineering mindset with over 7 years of proven experience in Node.js and Typescript development. You should possess deep knowledge of popular frameworks such as Next.js, Nest.js, Express.js, and testing tools like Jest and Mocha. Proficiency in designing and maintaining high-load, multi-server backend services and APIs is essential. Familiarity with both SQL and NoSQL databases, including MySQL, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB, is required. You should have a solid understanding of distributed systems, cloud architecture (preferably GCP), and networking fundamentals. Experience with PHP is a plus, as well as a demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools into development workflows. Excellent communication skills and a proactive attitude toward learning new technologies and improving existing skills are vital. A passion for gaming, especially strategy games, will be highly valued. Responsibilities As a Senior Node.js Developer, your primary responsibilities will include maintaining and enhancing our legacy PHP-based backend services while spearheading the development of new Node.js services aligned with our modern architecture. You will take ownership of critical meta-data services used across the game, ensuring their stability, performance, and security. Collaborating with internal teams, you will design, develop, test, deploy, and continuously improve high-quality, maintainable code. You will work closely with game designers and product leads to implement new features and functionalities, contributing to the overall player experience. Additionally, you will create specialized Node.js services that support gameplay, live-ops, and monetization features. Your role involves adopting best practices in software development, participating in code reviews, and ensuring that all services are scalable and resilient in a distributed cloud environment.
