About The Role We are seeking an experienced Senior Frontend Developer with expertise in React and Next.js to join our dynamic digital transformation team. This is a permanent role based in Chester with a hybrid working model, offering flexibility and the opportunity to work remotely. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role during an exciting phase of modernization, taking ownership of key aspects of the frontend architecture. You will be instrumental in refactoring and enhancing a critical business-facing management platform used to support complex operational workflows. This role is highly technical and hands-on, focusing on modernizing the frontend using the latest Next.js capabilities to improve performance, scalability, and maintainability. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including UX/UI designers and backend engineers, to deliver high-quality, scalable digital solutions that meet business needs. Qualifications The ideal candidate will have extensive commercial experience with React.js and Next.js, demonstrating a strong understanding of modern frontend development principles. Proven experience in delivering frontend refactors, migrations, or significant application modernization projects is essential. You should possess hands-on expertise with Next.js architecture, including App Router, Server Components, and Server Actions. A solid understanding of integrating frontend applications with APIs and backend services is required. Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently, making informed technical decisions, are vital. Experience working within enterprise environments or complex digital transformation projects will be advantageous. A proactive, collaborative, and delivery-focused mindset is essential for success in this role. Responsibilities Lead the refactor of an existing frontend application utilizing Next.js App Router, ensuring modern architecture and best practices are implemented.Implement and optimize Server Components and Server Actions to enhance application performance and scalability.Develop and maintain scalable, reusable UI components using React and Next.js, adhering to high-quality standards.Integrate frontend functionality seamlessly with an OpenAPI-driven Node.js backend, ensuring robust and reliable communication.Implement and optimize client-side and server-side caching strategies to improve application responsiveness and reduce load times.Collaborate closely with UX/UI designers to translate design prototypes into high-quality frontend solutions.Work alongside backend engineers to ensure frontend implementation aligns with API specifications and backend services.Contribute to the refinement of user stories, requirements, and delivery plans, ensuring clarity and technical feasibility.Participate in stakeholder discussions, presentations, and technical reviews to communicate progress and gather feedback.Contribute to architectural decisions and technical strategies to support long-term maintainability and scalability of the platform.
