Description
Lead Azure Engineer – Azure | Terraform | Multi Region | Amsterdam / Rotterdam [€120K]
[Business Critical IT / Managed Services]
A team of engineers, one client environment, and no manager sitting between them and the decisions.
The most senior engineer in that team sets the technical direction and is also the one in front of the client.
My client runs the infrastructure behind systems that large organisations cannot afford to lose.
The work is organised into dedicated teams, one per client environment, and each team designs, builds and then runs its platform for years with a full technical mandate from the customer.
There is very little management structure, so direction comes from the engineers who know the environment best.
You join one of those teams as its most experienced engineer.
What you’ll do
You take technical ownership of an Azure platform and the direction it moves in.
Multi region design, global connectivity, identity and security boundaries, cost and resilience.
You still write Terraform and you are still in the incidents, because the person setting direction here is the person doing the work.
Alongside that you run the technical conversation with the client’s engineers and architects, and you bring the rest of the team with you.
This is not a line management role.
No headcount, no performance reviews, nobody reporting to you.
The authority comes from being the engineer everyone checks with.
Your profile
8+ years in infrastructure engineering, several of them on Azure at scaleYou have designed and built cloud platforms in more than one organisationMulti region and global setups, connectivity, identity and security boundariesTerraform or Bicep as your default, plus PowerShell or PythonA background before the cloud, for example data centre, bare metal or virtualisationComfortable leading the technical discussion with a client’s engineers and architectsFluent English, Dutch is a plus
What’s in it for you
Up to €120K gross per year on target, plus a car.
A permanent contract from the start.
Hybrid, so roughly half your week from home and the rest from the office in Amsterdam or Rotterdam or at the client site.
Budget for certification, training and conferences, and the time to actually use it.
