PAY RANGE:$81,000 - 93,000 Position Summary The IT Applications Developer I helps build and maintain the internal applications, integrations, automations, and reports that business units across Vigor Marine Group rely on, as part of the IT Delivery and Enablement team led by the IT Delivery and Enablement Manager. The role works alongside the IT Applications Developer II, contributing well-scoped development work while learning the enterprise systems, data sources, and delivery practices the team depends on. The position uses AI-assisted development as a standard part of daily work and is expected to grow into independent ownership of assigned applications, including direct requirements gathering with business stakeholders, over the course of the first year. Essential Functions And Major Responsibilities (This list is not intended to detail all aspects of the assigned work but is representative of the job’s overall responsibilities.) Solution Delivery Assist with building and maintaining internal applications, system integrations, automations, reports, and dashboards for business units across Vigor Marine Group.Develop well-scoped features and enhancements under the direction of the IT Delivery and Enablement Manager, with day-to-day technical guidance from the IT Applications Developer II.Contribute to proof-of-concept and pilot solutions supporting emerging business needs.Deploy assigned work through established delivery pipelines and verify the result in the deployed environment.Work carefully with data from enterprise source systems, applying documented filters, join keys, and definitions so that information presented to business users is accurate.Follow Vigor security and compliance practices, including correct handling of CUI, ITAR, CMMC, and DFARS obligations where applicable. Application Support and Maintenance Triage, diagnose, and resolve reported defects and operational issues in supported applications.Take ownership of assigned applications over time, including their maintenance, enhancements, and day-to-day user support.Monitor assigned solutions for failures, and escalate issues that require additional expertise.Maintain documentation, runbooks, and knowledge resources for supported solutions. AI Assisted Development Use AI coding assistants and related tooling for development, code review, documentation, and testing in line with team practices.Verify and test AI-generated work products rather than accepting them at face value.Follow team practices for the safe and responsible use of AI, including prompt hygiene and correct handling of sensitive or regulated data.Build familiarity with the team's AI-assisted development patterns and contribute improvements as experience grows. Business Partnership And Requirements Participate in requirements gathering with business stakeholders, initially alongside the IT Applications Developer II and progressing to leading discovery for assigned solutions.Assist with documenting business requirements, current-state processes, and proposed solution scope.Communicate directly with requesters on assigned work, including status updates, clarifying questions, and confirmation that delivered work meets the need.Track assigned commitments, open requests, and follow-ups so that business unit needs are not lost.Support adoption of delivered solutions, including user walkthroughs and reference material. Professional Development Build working knowledge of the enterprise systems, data sources, and integration patterns the team supports.Seek and apply feedback from the IT Delivery and Enablement Manager and the IT Applications Developer II.Develop the judgment to recognize when a problem should be escalated and when it can be resolved independently.Additional tasks and projects as directed by the IT Delivery and Enablement Manager. Knowledge Skills And Abilities Working knowledge of at least one general-purpose programming language required, with Python preferred.Familiarity with relational databases and SQL fundamentals required.Evidence of having completed and delivered software that other people used, such as an internship project, academic capstone, personal project, or open-source contribution.Practical exposure to AI coding assistants, with sound judgment about when they help and when they do not.Ability to communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical audiences.Organizational discipline to track assigned work and provide consistent status updates.Willingness to work directly with business stakeholders and to learn the operations the technology supports.Exposure to a modern web framework and to version control in a team setting preferred.Exposure to CI/CD pipelines or automated deployment practices preferred.Experience with data work such as reporting, analysis, or data integration preferred.Familiarity with Microsoft 365, Microsoft Graph, or the Power Platform preferred.Interest in or exposure to regulated environments such as CMMC, DFARS 7012, CUI, or ITAR. Education And/Or Experience Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, software engineering, or a related field. Equivalent professional experience will be considered.Zero to three years of professional software development experience; recent graduates are encouraged to apply.
