About the Role
We are looking for a Software Support Engineer for our client, EUMETSAT (full-time).
This is a support and maintenance role, not a software development position.
You will join a service team supporting the Monitoring & Control Applications and Tools Competence Area, maintaining elements of the Mission Performance Monitoring and Reporting system that track the health of EUMETSAT's missions.
Your tasks will include:
• Anomaly investigation, troubleshooting and reporting
• Server configuration, scripts, web pages and package maintenance
• Tracking third-party application releases and implementing small changes directly
• Integration, verification and test plan execution for new releases
• Maintaining engineering/AIV infrastructure (packages, configuration, installation)
• Building and maintaining RPM packages (SU/DU) across DEV, VAL, PROD
• End-user support, including training materials
• Support for programme and MME test campaigns
• On-call during satellite launch periods
Required Skills and Experience:
• Master’s degree or Bachelor’s degree plus equivalent professional experience
• Fluency in English
• Capability to work in a team
• 3+ years of experience in a software-related field
• Comfortable working in a cross-functional team (developers, managers and operators)
• Experience with Linux servers (RHEL is a bonus)
• Experience troubleshooting and maintaining legacy systems
Comfortable working with:
o SonarQube
o Git and SVN
o Bash scripting
o Java
o SQL
o CI/CD (e.g.
GitLab)
o Web servers (Tomcat/Apache)
o Containerization and clustering (e.g.
Kubernetes, Docker)
o Remote connection tools (ssh, VNC) RPM packaging (rpmbuild, spec files)
Desirable Skills and Experience:
Practical knowledge of the following will be a distinct advantage:
