Data Engineer Shoreham-by-Sea (hybrid) £40,000 - £45,000 (Internal job level reference{{:}} Senior Associate) Focus Group is a £300m-revenue, 1,400-person technology services company backed by Hg Capital. Following our $1bn valuation in 2024, we're scaling rapidly and investing in AI to transform how we operate and how we serve our 30,000 SME customers. We're looking for a Data Engineer to join our growing data and analytics team. This is a great opportunity for someone with 2-3 years' experience in a data or IT role to build on their skills, take ownership of real projects, and see the results drive genuine business decisions. You'll help develop and enhance our Snowflake data warehouse, support the rollout of internal AI solutions, and play a key part in bringing new data sources onto the platform as we grow. What you'll be doing Building and maintaining SQL data products in dbt (Data Build Tool)Making sure data is accessible, reliable, and ready for our analysts to useDesigning and maintaining efficient, scalable SQL databasesWriting Python scripts for data processing, ETL, and database interactionsSupporting the rollout of AI solutions across the data platformDocumenting processes and pipelines to support the wider teamTesting and validating changes thoroughly before deploymentWhat you'll bring 2-3 years' experience as a Data EngineerExpert-level SQL, with the ability to write and optimise complex queriesStrong experience with SQL databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, or similar)Fluency in PythonSolid understanding of database architecture and query performanceFamiliarity with Git and an understanding of cloud computingA proactive, logical approach to problem-solving and a genuine appetite to learnExperience within an MSP (Managed Service Provider) or familiarity with networking concepts is a bonus, but not essential. This is a hybrid role based in our Shoreham-by-Sea office.
