About The Role As a DevOps Engineer at DENIC eG, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and advancing the organization’s system and infrastructure landscape. Your primary focus will be on ensuring the stability, security, and high availability of the authoritative nameservers and associated infrastructure that underpin the .de domain. You will be actively involved in automating operational tasks, optimizing existing processes, and implementing new solutions to support the continuous growth and resilience of DENIC’s services. Working within a technically diverse environment, you will utilize a broad array of tools and technologies, including Linux, virtualization, containerization, and monitoring systems, to deliver reliable and scalable solutions. Collaboration with cross-functional teams and continuous learning are integral aspects of this role, enabling you to contribute to DENIC’s mission of operating a secure and robust internet infrastructure for Germany. Qualifications A university degree or technical training complemented by relevant professional experience; practical skills are valued highly.Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in relevant fields such as system administration, DevOps, or infrastructure management.Strong expertise in Linux system administration and related technologies.Solid understanding of the full technology stack, including operating systems, virtualization, containers, data backup, networking, storage, and databases.Experience with automation tools and CI/CD pipelines to streamline operations and deployment processes.Knowledge of DNS, DNSSEC, and nameserver software such as BIND, Knot, or NSD is advantageous.Proficiency in scripting languages like Python, Golang, or Bash enhances automation capabilities.Familiarity with agile methodologies, particularly Scrum, is beneficial.Fluent in German with excellent written and spoken communication skills; good command of English is also required.Strong problem-solving skills, a solution-oriented mindset, and a customer-focused attitude.Engaged, responsible, and team-oriented with an ability to see the bigger picture and work independently. Responsibilities Maintain, monitor, and enhance the organization’s Linux-based systems and infrastructure components to ensure optimal performance and security.Operate and develop authoritative nameservers for the .de TLD and other associated infrastructure, emphasizing high availability and stability.Automate routine tasks and processes to improve efficiency, reliability, and security of operations.Implement and manage infrastructure as code using tools like SaltStack, Ansible, and CI/CD pipelines.Configure and maintain virtualization environments, containers, and orchestration platforms such as Docker and Kubernetes.Participate in the planning and execution of infrastructure upgrades, security enhancements, and disaster recovery strategies.Monitor system health and performance using tools like Grafana, Prometheus, and ElasticSearch, and respond proactively to incidents.Collaborate with development teams and other stakeholders to ensure seamless integration and deployment of services.Stay updated on emerging technologies and industry best practices, attending training sessions and conferences as needed.
