About The Role We are seeking a skilled Backend Developer / AI Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be instrumental in developing and maintaining the backend services that power our AI assistants and knowledge platforms. Your work will directly impact the reliability, speed, and data privacy of our solutions, ensuring that large-scale knowledge bases remain accessible and secure. You will collaborate closely with frontend, data, and AI teams to design scalable architectures, implement integrations with various AI models, and optimize search functionalities for semantic retrieval. The ideal candidate will have a passion for building robust backend systems, a keen interest in AI and data privacy, and the ability to work in a collaborative environment. Qualifications The ideal candidate should possess several years of professional experience in backend development using modern, type-safe programming languages such as Go, Rust, Java, or C#. A solid understanding of API design, real-time streaming interfaces, and concurrent programming is essential. Experience with semantic search, AI-driven retrieval, and handling large datasets will be highly valued. Candidates should be familiar with integrating AI and large language models (LLMs), as well as deploying containerized applications on Linux environments with CI/CD pipelines. Strong knowledge of relational and search/ vector databases, along with a deep awareness of data protection, security, and multi-tenant architectures, is required. Excellent communication skills in German are also necessary for effective collaboration within our team and with our clients. Responsibilities Develop and operate backend services supporting our AI assistants, ensuring reliable access to knowledge and agent functionalities.Enhance search capabilities to deliver relevant content quickly and accurately, maintaining high performance even with large data volumes.Implement and optimize data retrieval processes, including the integration of language models and other AI services.Ensure strict data separation and access control for multiple clients, maintaining compliance with GDPR and other privacy standards.Design scalable system architectures in collaboration with frontend, data, and AI teams, contributing to the overall platform strategy.Manage the deployment and maintenance of containerized applications, ensuring high availability and security.Monitor system performance and implement improvements to enhance speed, security, and user experience.Stay updated with the latest developments in AI, search technologies, and data security, integrating new solutions as appropriate.
