About The Role We are seeking a talented and motivated Backend Developer / AI Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in building and maintaining the backend services that power our AI solutions. Your work will directly impact the reliability, efficiency, and security of our platform, ensuring that our AI assistants and knowledge retrieval systems perform seamlessly for our diverse client base. You will collaborate closely with frontend, data, and AI teams to design scalable architectures, integrate various AI models, and implement data privacy measures in line with GDPR regulations. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work at the intersection of AI, backend development, and social impact, contributing to projects that serve meaningful societal causes. Qualifications The ideal candidate will have several years of experience in backend development, with proficiency in modern, type-safe programming languages such as Go, Rust, Java, or C#. You should have a solid understanding of API design and operation, including real-time and streaming interfaces, as well as experience with concurrent programming and performance optimization. Familiarity with semantic search, AI-assisted retrieval, and handling large data volumes is essential. Experience in integrating AI and large language models (LLMs), along with container technologies, Linux environments, version control, and CI/CD pipelines, is highly desirable. A strong foundation in relational and search/vector databases, along with a keen awareness of data privacy, security, and multi-tenant architecture, is required. Excellent German language skills and a structured, autonomous working style are also important. Responsibilities Develop and operate backend services supporting our AI assistants, ensuring reliable access to organizational knowledge for various client projects.Enhance and maintain search functionalities that accurately retrieve and prepare content for responses, ensuring fast and relevant results.Manage large datasets to keep search capabilities swift and efficient, overseeing the architecture, operation, and quality assurance of search systems.Integrate language models (LLMs) and prepare data inputs to optimize AI performance.Collaborate with external AI providers, ensuring integrations adhere to data privacy standards and European GDPR regulations.Ensure the timely and dependable delivery of responses, even during high-volume request periods.Maintain strict data separation between clients and enforce access controls to uphold security and privacy standards.Contribute to architectural decisions and work closely with frontend, data, and AI teams to build cohesive solutions.
