The candidate for this role will be expected to be onsite five days a week at our client site in Pittsburgh, PA.
We are seeking an experienced Infrastructure Engineer to design, build, configure, and support the cloud infrastructure for a new enterprise-wide Document Management Platform within a large financial services organization.
The platform will provide centralized capabilities for securely ingesting, processing, storing, classifying, searching, and retrieving enterprise documents across multiple business areas.
The solution will leverage Microsoft Azure cloud services, Azure AI capabilities, Python based applications, APIs, databases, and document processing technologies.
The Infrastructure Engineer will be responsible for establishing secure, scalable, resilient, and production ready environments across development, testing, and production.
The role will work closely with Solution Architects, application developers, AI engineers, security teams, database teams, networking teams, and enterprise infrastructure teams.
Given the highly regulated banking environment and sensitive nature of enterprise and customer documents, security, identity management, network isolation, encryption, monitoring, resiliency, and operational controls will be critical aspects of this role.
Your future duties and responsibilities
Azure Infrastructure & Environment Setup
Design, provision, configure, and maintain Azure infrastructure supporting the Enterprise Document Management Platform.
Establish and maintain separate Development, QA/Test, UAT, and Production environments.
Configure Azure services required for: Application hosting Document ingestion and processing Document storage AI/ML services Database services API services Batch processing Implement scalable infrastructure patterns to support increasing document volumes and processing workloads.
Collaborate with architects to translate solution architecture into deployable cloud infrastructure.
Azure AI Services Infrastructure
Configure and support infrastructure connectivity for: Azure AI Document Intelligence Azure OpenAI Other approved AI/model services as required Configure secure endpoints, authentication, permissions, networking, and service connectivity.
Work with AI/application engineering teams to establish environments supporting: OCR and document extraction Document classification AI based document analysis Automated document routing Confidence scoring Ensure AI services are deployed according to enterprise security and governance requirements.
Document Storage Infrastructure
Establish secure and scalable storage for enterprise documents.
Configure appropriate Azure storage capabilities for: Original documents Processed documents Extracted document content Application artifacts Implement: Encryption at rest and in transit Storage access controls Backup and recovery Retention capabilities Lifecycle management Support infrastructure required for batch document processing and high volume ingestion.
Database Infrastructure
Provision and support database infrastructure such as PostgreSQL for: Document metadata Processing status Application configuration Audit information Configure: Database security Backup/recovery High availability Performance monitoring Connection management Work with application developers using SQLAlchemy/ORM based application architectures.
Application Hosting
Establish infrastructure to host Python/Flask based applications and APIs.
Configure appropriate Azure application hosting services such as: Azure App Service Azure Functions Containers / Azure Container Apps AKS where appropriate Support application runtime configuration and environment management.
Configure scaling, health checks, load balancing, and availability requirements.
Security & Identity Management
Implement Azure Key Vault for centralized management of: Application secrets API credentials Database credentials Certificates Encryption keys Implement Azure identity and access management using: Microsoft Entra ID Managed identities Role Based Access Control (RBAC) Service principals where appropriate Follow least privilege security principles.
Ensure sensitive customer and enterprise documents are protected throughout their lifecycle.
Partner with Cybersecurity and Risk teams to satisfy banking security and compliance requirements.
Network & Connectivity
Design and configure secure connectivity between application components and Azure services.
Configure: VNets and subnets Private endpoints Network Security Groups DNS Firewalls Load balancing Support secure connectivity between Azure and on premises banking systems.
Minimize public network exposure through private connectivity wherever appropriate.
Infrastructure as Code & Automation
Implement Infrastructure as Code using technologies such as: Terraform Bicep / ARM Automate environment provisioning and configuration.
Ensure infrastructure configurations are version controlled and repeatable across environments.
Minimize manual infrastructure changes and configuration drift.
CI/CD & DevOps
Establish and maintain CI/CD infrastructure using Azure DevOps or equivalent enterprise tooling.
Support automated: Build Testing Infrastructure deployment Application deployment Implement environment specific configuration management.
Establish appropriate deployment approvals and production release controls.
Monitoring & Observability
Establish centralized monitoring, logging, and alerting.
Implement Azure monitoring capabilities such as: Azure Monitor Application Insights Log Analytics Monitor: Infrastructure availability Application health Document processing failures AI service connectivity Storage utilization Database health API performance Establish actionable alerts and operational dashboards.
Reliability, Resiliency & Disaster Recovery
Design infrastructure for high availability and fault tolerance.
Establish: Backup and restore procedures Disaster recovery strategy Recovery Time
Objectives (RTO) Recovery Point Objectives (RPO)
Participate in resiliency and disaster recovery testing.
Identify and eliminate single points of failure.
Production Support & Operational Readiness
Support production deployment and platform go live.
Develop infrastructure runbooks and operational procedures.
Troubleshoot infrastructure, connectivity, authentication, performance, and availability issues.
Perform root cause analysis for production incidents.
Participate in production support and incident management processes.
Work with SRE/operations teams to transition the platform into steady state support.
Required Qualifications To Be Successful In This Role
Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or equivalent Over 5+ years of Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure, including several of the following: Azure App Service Azure Functions Azure Storage Azure Key Vault Azure Monitor Application Insights 5+ years of infrastructure, cloud engineering, DevOps, or platform engineering experience.
Strong experience building infrastructure for enterprise applications.
Strong understanding of cloud security principles.
Experience implementing: Secrets management Encryption RBAC Experience with Azure DevOps or comparable CI/CD platforms.
Experience with Infrastructure as Code using: Terraform and/or Bicep/ARM Experience supporting Python based enterprise applications.
Understanding of REST APIs and web application architectures.
Strong ability to troubleshoot issues
Desired Skills:
Experience with Azure AI Document Intelligence.
Experience supporting Azure OpenAI infrastructure.
Understanding of AI/GenAI application architectures.
Experience supporting document management, content management, or document processing platforms.
Experience with enterprise document repositories and large volume document storage.

Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
A reasonable estimate of the current range for this role in the U.S.
is $79,600.00 $176,300.00.
