Tesla is seeking an exceptional Data Engineer who can build scalable, high-quality modules to power forecasting models, production planning and deployment logistics for its energy business on our planning platform.
This role bridges advanced technical expertise with supply chain knowledge to maintain and enhance the optimization tools that power factory planning decisions across all Tesla manufacturing facilities worldwide.
You'll work in a fast-paced environment where your technical innovations directly impact Tesla's production efficiency and our ability to meet global demand for energy products.
What You'll Do
Serve as the technical owner for the energy modules and its associated optimization toolsDevelop and maintain algorithms that drive prioritization and sequencing logic for global factory planningDesign and implement advanced optimization algorithms that balance production constraints with demand patternsCollaborate with demand planning and production planning teams to automate their processesPartner with operations teams to support their planning-based tasks at factory, warehouse and operation center levelDesign and optimize data models that support high-performance planning operationsDevelop efficient ETL processes to integrate data from our in-house ERP system and other sourcesWrite complex SQL queries to analyze supply-demand dynamics and identify planning opportunitiesSupport executive reporting by developing data pipelines that transform complex planning data into actionable insights
What You'll Bring
Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Science, Operations Research or related field, or equivalent experience2+ years of experience in Software Development or Data Engineering rolesAdvanced Python programming with expertise in numerical computing libraries (NumPy, Pandas, SciPy)Strong SQL proficiency for complex data manipulation and analysisExperience with optimization frameworks and algorithms (linear programming, constraint satisfaction)Understanding of manufacturing planning concepts and S&OP processesAbility to translate complex business requirements into technical specificationsExperience working with cross-functional teams and building organic support for technical initiativesExcellent judgment and proactive problem-solving mindsetSelf-motivation, strong work ethic, and comfort with rapid pace of change
