Description

Role Description The Backend Developer at Familias con Futuro ONG will design, implement, and maintain server-side applications that support the organization’s digital platforms. In this part-time remote role, the developer will build and optimize APIs, manage databases, and ensure secure, reliable data flow between front-end interfaces and back-end services. Responsibilities include writing clean, well-documented code, integrating third-party services, troubleshooting and resolving technical issues, and collaborating with front-end developers and project stakeholders to deliver scalable solutions. The role also involves participating in code reviews, improving performance and security, and contributing to technical planning for new features and enhancements that support the NGO’s mission. Qualifications Strong Back-End Web Development skills, including experience with server-side frameworks and API design.Solid Software Development and Programming skills with familiarity in version control and collaborative development workflows.Proficiency in Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) concepts and their practical application in production code.Ability to collaborate with Front-End Development teams to ensure seamless integration between client and server.Experience with relational or NoSQL databases and basic knowledge of data modeling and optimization.Understanding of security best practices, performance optimization, and error handling in web applications.Comfort working in a remote environment, with strong communication, time management, and problem-solving skills.Relevant education or training in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.Prior experience contributing to nonprofit or social-impact projects is a plus.
