Only US Citizens or Green Card Holders Applied AI Engineer Location: New York, NY Employment Type: Full-Time ## About the Role We’re looking for a talented **Applied AI Engineer** to help shape how AI is transforming institutional finance. You’ll build production-grade AI-powered applications, infrastructure, and workflows used by sophisticated hedge funds and asset managers. This is a highly hands-on **0→1 engineering role** where you’ll work across the full stack, partner directly with investment teams, and turn complex financial workflows into elegant, intelligent software. You’ll have significant ownership and the opportunity to work with rapidly evolving AI technologies, including LLMs, agentic systems, MCP integrations, and modern AI development frameworks. ## What You’ll Do * Build **LLM-powered features** including research intelligence, natural-language interfaces, automated summarization, and agentic workflows. * Design and develop **AI orchestration systems**, agent pipelines, tools, and MCP-connected data sources. * Build **end-to-end full-stack applications** tailored to financial research, portfolio analytics, risk management, and investment workflows. * Develop high-performance **Python APIs and backend services**, using technologies such as FastAPI. * Build responsive and intuitive **React-based frontends** for complex financial data and workflows. * Design and maintain reliable **ETL and data pipelines** handling market data, positions, securities, risk metrics, and research signals. * Implement financial analytics and data-processing workflows using tools such as **Pandas and Polars**. * Deploy and operate applications within **Kubernetes environments**. * Work directly with users to understand problems, gather feedback, iterate quickly, and deliver production-ready solutions. * Make thoughtful decisions about when to build from scratch versus leverage existing platforms and infrastructure. ## What We’re Looking For * **3+ years of professional software engineering experience**, ideally with strong full-stack experience. * Strong proficiency in **Python** and production API development. * Hands-on experience building modern **web applications**, ideally with React. * Genuine interest and practical experience working with **AI/LLMs and modern AI tooling**. * Familiarity with **agentic workflows, AI orchestration, MCP, or similar emerging AI technologies** is highly valued. * Experience building data pipelines, APIs, and production systems. * Experience working with **Kubernetes** and cloud-based environments. * Strong understanding of software architecture, engineering fundamentals, and production-quality development. * Ability to work independently, take ownership, and move quickly in an ambiguous environment. * Strong communication skills and the ability to work directly with technical and business stakeholders. * Experience in **finance, fintech, hedge funds, asset management, or another quantitative domain** is a strong plus. ## Why This Opportunity * Work at the intersection of **AI, software engineering, and institutional finance**. * Build products that are used directly by sophisticated investment teams. * Work on challenging **0→1 problems** rather than maintaining legacy systems. * Have significant ownership and influence over architecture, product direction, and implementation. * Work with cutting-edge AI technologies and continuously evolving tooling. * Collaborate with a highly technical team with backgrounds across leading financial institutions and technology companies. * See your work move from concept to production in **weeks, not months**.
