As a Senior Software Engineer on the Cloud Streaming Game Services (CSGS) team, you’ll play a key role in the design and development of server-side applications on a large geographically distributed infrastructure. Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain software powering the globally distributed PlayStation Cloud Streaming infrastructureBuild Kubernetes controllers, operators, and system services powering infrastructure lifecycle management and orchestrationOwn features from design through implementation, testing, deployment, and production supportDevelop high-quality, maintainable code with comprehensive unit and integration testingPartner with SRE, Test and Platform Engineering to deliver reliable production servicesInvestigate and resolve production issues with a focus on reliability and performanceContribute to architecture discussions, technical design documents, and engineering standardsEffectively communicate technical approaches, project status, risks, estimates, and dependenciesLeverage modern AI-assisted development tools (e.g. Codex, Claude, etc) to accelerate design, implementation, documentation, and debugging while maintaining engineering quality through sound technical judgment and code reviewContinuously evaluate emerging technologies and automation opportunities that improve engineering velocity, reliability, and operational efficiency Requirements BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experience7+ years of professional software development experience Experience designing, implementing, and operating production software systemsDemonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex technical problems spanning software and infrastructurePassion for building reliable, maintainable, and highly automated systems Skills & Knowledge Strong experience developing production software in RustExperience building applications or controllers on KubernetesExperience developing software on LinuxProficiency with Git and modern software development workflowsFamiliarity with container technologies including Docker and KubernetesExperience debugging complex distributed applicationsExperience writing automated unit and integration testsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsKnowledge of observability platforms including Prometheus, Grafana, OTel, or OpenSearchExperience working with modern AI-assisted software development tools to improve productivity while applying critical engineering review and validationUnderstanding of distributed systems concepts including concurrency, asynchronous programming, event-driven architectures, fault tolerance and consistency models Additional Attributes Familiarity with Java or C++Familiar with Agile development conceptsComfortable working across software, infrastructure, networking, and hardware domainsExperience with infrastructure automation using tools such as Ansible, AWX, or GitOps workflowsAbility to thrive in an environment with evolving requirements and technical challengesStrong communication and documentation skillsContribution to the open-source community (ie. blogs, source code, etc) At SIE, we consider several factors when setting each role’s base pay range, including the competitive benchmarking data for the market and geographic location. Please note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
