Senior C#/.NET Developer

Lead Backend Developer (C#/.NET Trading Systems) Insight Global is partnering with a leading financial institution to hire a Lead Backend Developer for a high-impact trading technology team. This opportunity is ideal for a highly technical software engineer who is passionate about coding and solving complex technical challenges. This is not a management-focused position. We are specifically seeking a senior developer who remains hands-on, writes production code daily, and has a deep understanding of software engineering fundamentals. The successful candidate will help build and enhance real-time trading platforms, develop scalable backend services, and contribute to the architecture of mission-critical systems. Candidates should be comfortable completing a rigorous technical assessment covering coding, object-oriented design, algorithms, data structures, system design, and SQL. Key Responsibilities • Design, develop, and enhance high-performance backend applications using C# and .NET • Build scalable APIs, microservices, and event-driven applications • Develop new platform capabilities and features from the ground up • Write clean, maintainable, and production-ready code • Design and implement scalable distributed systems • Optimize application performance and database queries • Work with messaging and streaming technologies such as Kafka, MQ, or similar platforms • Participate in code reviews and drive engineering best practices • Collaborate with engineers, architects, and business stakeholders to deliver complex technical solutions • Contribute to architectural discussions and technical decision-making Required Qualifications • 8+ years of professional software development experience • 6+ years of hands-on C# and .NET development experience • Extensive experience with .NET Framework 4.8 and/or .NET 8 • Strong expertise building backend services, APIs, and distributed systems • Proven experience developing enterprise applications or major platform features from scratch • Strong understanding of object-oriented programming, design patterns, and software engineering principles • Advanced knowledge of algorithms and data structures • Experience with system design, scalability, and performance optimization • Strong SQL skills, including query tuning and database performance optimization • Experience with messaging or event-driven architectures using Kafka, MQ, RabbitMQ, or similar technologies • Strong understanding of multithreading, concurrency, and asynchronous programming • Ability to discuss architectural decisions, tradeoffs, and engineering best practices in depth Preferred Qualifications • Trading, capital markets, or financial services experience • Experience building high-throughput, low-latency applications • Cloud experience with Azure, AWS, or GCP • Kubernetes or OpenShift experience • Software architecture experience • Experience in highly technical engineering environments with strong coding standards Ideal Candidate • Spends the majority of their day coding and designing software • Possesses exceptional software engineering fundamentals • Can confidently pass advanced coding and system design assessments • Has built complex backend systems rather than primarily maintaining existing applications • Enjoys solving challenging technical problems at scale • Thrives in highly collaborative, engineering-driven environments Please Note: We may use artificial intelligence tools to assist with the screening, assessment, or selection of potential applicants for this position.
