Job location: Plano, TX / Charlotte, NC (3 Days onsite, 2 Days Remote) Hybrid role.

Position Summary
The CockroachDB Database Engineer will be a hands-on Engineer responsible for designing, building, and operationalizing CockroachDB as an enterprise Database-as-a-Service (DBaaS) on Linux platform.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and enforce engineering standards, reference architectures, and best practicesBuild automation frameworks using Ansible, shell scripting, and infrastructure-as-code principles to enable scalable, repeatable deploymentsDesign and implement self-service provisioning capabilities for application teamsEnsure high availability, performance tuning, monitoring, failover, and disaster recovery capabilitiesDefine and implement security, compliance, and governance controls aligned with enterprise policiesAct as Subject Matter Expert (SME) and escalation point for CockroachDB-related issuesContinuously improve platform reliability, efficiency, and developer experience Primary skills: CockroachDB DBA experiance, Anisble Playbook, Shell script, Distributed DB knowledgeStrong hands-on experience with CockroachDB architecture and administrationDeep understanding of distributed database systems (replication, consistency, consensus models)Expertise in automation using Ansible playbooksStrong shell scripting (Bash/Korn Shell) for automation and operational toolingExpertise in using AI Tools like Github Copilot or any other AI tools to write the codeExperience with multi-region deployment architectures and high availability designDatabase performance tuning, query optimization, and capacity planning8+ years of database engineering experience in enterprise environmentsStrong experience in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principlesExperience in monitoring, alerting, and observability tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk)Solid understanding of backup, restore, failover, and disaster recovery strategiesExperience implementing security controls, encryption, RBAC, and compliance standardsExcellent collaboration and stakeholder communication skills
