Job Summary
We are adding a Software Quality Assurance Tester to our Electronics Development team based in Saskatoon.
This position will develop and execute comprehensive manual and automated test strategies for web and mobile applications, as well as embedded and cloud-connected products.
The successful candidate will collaborate with various teams to improve product quality, reliability, and performance throughout the development lifecycle
Responsibilities
Develop and execute test plans for embedded systems, with a focus on Linux-based platforms, considering hardware constraints and real-time requirementsDevelop and execute test plans for web and mobile applications with a focus on IOS and Android devicesDefine testing strategies and methodologies, incorporating both manual and automated testing approachesCreate, review, and execute test cases ensuring thorough coverage of software featuresConduct manual and automated testing, identifying and documenting defects promptly, with a focus on system performance and reliabilityLead and contribute to the development of automated test scripts, utilizing tools and frameworks suitable for embedded softwareIntegrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and support reliable regression testing.Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to software running on custom hardware platforms and cloud environments.Work closely with embedded software developers, hardware engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders to understand system requirements & specifications, to ensure timely identification & resolution of defectsUse defect-tracking tools to document defects, record reproducible steps and supporting evidence, monitor issue status, and communicate test resultsActively participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance testing processes and methodologies.Propose and implement best practices to optimize the overall software testing processes.
Required Skills/Experience
A minimum of 2-5 years of proven experience in software quality assurance for mobile applications and embedded systemsDegree or diploma in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related fieldProficiency in scripting and programming languages including Python, Bash, C/C++, C#Experience developing and maintaining automated test frameworks and test scripts using tools such as NUnit, Google Test, PyTest, or equivalent frameworks.Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions or similar platforms.
Familiarity with test case management tools and cloud-based testing platforms.Experience with web and mobile application testing.Experience developing, deploying, and troubleshooting software applications in Linux environments.Understanding of embedded systems, hardware interfaces, and communication protocols (e.g., CAN, ISOBUS, ProtoBuf, Ethernet, etc.)Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot issues across software, hardware, network, and cloud environments.Ability to analyze functional and technical requirements and develop comprehensive test plans and test cases.Experience testing software integrated with embedded systems, sensors, actuators, and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) environments is considered an asset.Strong communication and collaboration skills.Experience with Git, GitHub, and modern source control workflows, including pull requests, branching strategies, and code reviews.Agricultural equipment, precision agriculture, or farming industry experience is considered a strong asset.Willingness to gain hands-on experience and learn the application from the end-user perspective.Valid driver's license.Experience operating agricultural or heavy equipment is considered an asset.Self-motivated individual who enjoys hands-on problem solving and is comfortable working independently in a fast-paced R&D environment!
