Description
About Rivercity Tech
Rivercity Tech is an established Saskatchewan managed IT company.
We're the crew that small and medium businesses across the province call when they'd rather not think about their tech at all.
We handle the whole stack: IT support, infrastructure, and cybersecurity β and now we're building an AI practice to help those same clients put AI to work safely and practically.
We take the work seriously and ourselves a little less so.
The role
You're the builder behind our new AI practice.
While our leadership team leads the client strategy conversations, you're the one who makes the solutions real: automating our own operations, building AI and automation solutions for clients, running discovery sessions to map how businesses actually work, and turning our AI readiness platform's findings into clear reports and working solutions.
This is a rare ground-floor seat: real client projects from week one, direct mentorship from the leadership team, and a role designed to grow into a client-facing AI advisor position as the practice's client base builds.
What you'll do
β’ Build and maintain internal AI tools and automations that make Rivercity itself run smarter
β’ Develop AI and automation solutions for clients β AI agents, Copilot solutions, workflow automations, and integrations
β’ Run structured discovery and requirements-gathering sessions β interviewing client teams to map workflows and spot automation and AI opportunities
β’ Operate our AI assessment platform β ingest client environment data and prepare findings, reports, and recommendations
β’ Perform data analysis and BI work that backs our AI recommendations with evidence
β’ Research emerging AI tools and prototype solutions before we put them in front of clients
What you bring
β’ A degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience
β’ Hands-on experience building with modern AI tools β AI agents (Claude, OpenAI, Copilot Studio), prompt engineering, and RAG
β’ Workflow automation chops β Power Automate / Power Platform, Zapier, n8n, or similar, plus Microsoft 365 fluency
β’ Solid programming fundamentals (Python, TypeScript, or similar) β enough to build the glue, debug the API call, and keep going when the no-code tools run out
β’ Strong analytical and problem-solving instincts β you're detail-oriented and your work is accurate
β’ Business sense and people skills β you can sit with a client team, interview them about how their business runs, ask sharp questions, and translate geek to owner
β’ Self-direction β you can own a piece of work end to end and finish it without hand-holding
β’ Curiosity β the AI landscape shifts monthly and you genuinely enjoy keeping up
Nice to have
β’ Co-op, internship, or work experience in BI, analytics, or automation
β’ Experience with Azure AI services, MCP, or shipping an AI agent people actually use
β’ Exposure to how small and medium businesses actually run (any industry)
