About The Role As a Software Engineer (Frontend), you’ll build modern full-stack applications and customer-facing experiences across the On the Beach platform. This is a genuinely full-stack engineering role, but with a stronger emphasis on frontend engineering, modern web development and customer experience. You’ll work across the application stack, from React and TypeScript interfaces through to backend services and APIs, while collaborating closely with engineers, product managers, designers and analysts. You’ll help us solve customer and engineering problems, improve the performance and quality of our digital products, and contribute to the continued development of the products and systems you work on. What You’ll Be Doing Day To Day You’ll work on customer-facing products used by millions of holidaymakers. Depending on the team and problem you’re working on, this could include: Building and maintaining production web applicationsCommercial experience with React and TypeScriptModern JavaScript and frontend engineering practicesCreating responsive and accessible user experiencesDeveloping and consuming backend APIsWorking with backend services and understanding how frontend applications interact with themBuilding or supporting applications in a cloud environment such as AWSAutomated testing across frontend and/or backend systemsDebugging and troubleshooting production applicationsWorking collaboratively with product, UX/design and engineering teamsMaking sensible technical decisions with support from more experienced engineersTaking responsibility for features from development through to productionContributing positively to engineering discussions and code reviews You don’t need to be equally strong in every area. We’re most interested in engineers with strong frontend fundamentals who are comfortable working beyond the browser and want to continue developing their full-stack capability. Experience within ecommerce, travel, marketplaces or another high-traffic consumer platform would be useful, but isn’t essential. You’ll be a great addition to our team if you have the following skills, knowledge and experience We are looking for engineers who enjoy solving complex technical problems and building scalable systems that operate reliably under high throughput environments. Ways of working Our full time hours are 37.5 per week, but we don't have rigid working hours so you can find the working pattern that's right for you. We have core working hours between 10am - 4pm, so we can collaborate and enjoy the social side of work. We also have hybrid working so we all work from home and from our Aeroworks office in Manchester City Centre.
