This leader will be responsible for team execution, technical quality, delivery predictability, engineering practices, and talent development. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who can operate at the intersection of people, product, architecture, and execution. You will partner closely with Product, UX, QA, Architecture, DevOps, Security, Data, and business stakeholders to deliver high-quality digital commerce capabilities across web, mobile, and platform services. The ideal candidate has experience leading teams that build with React Native, Node.js, APIs, cloud-native services, and modern ecommerce architectures. They should also be comfortable helping teams adopt AI-assisted engineering practices, including responsible use of coding assistants to improve speed, quality, testing, documentation, and developer experience. What You’ll Lead You will manage two product teams focused on ecommerce platform capabilities, including areas such as: CITY HOME ecommerce React Native mobile app capabilitiesNode.js backend services and APIsCheckout and cart capabilitiesPayments, financing, Apple Pay, PayPal, and related integrationsCustomer-facing digital experiences across web and mobilePlatform observability and production performanceAPI and integration patterns supporting omnichannel commerceReliability, scalability, and technical debt reductionResponsible adoption of AI-assisted engineering practices What You’ll Do Lead, coach, and develop engineers across two ecommerce product teamsOwn team delivery health, sprint execution, roadmap alignment, and operational disciplinePartner with Product Managers to translate business outcomes into clear technical execution plansGuide delivery across React Native mobile applications, Node.js services, APIs, and ecommerce platform capabilitiesDrive strong engineering practices, including code quality, automated testing, CI/CD, observability, secure development, and production readinessHelp teams use AI coding assistants responsibly to improve delivery speed, test coverage, documentation, refactoring, and developer productivityWork with architects and senior engineers to guide technical design decisionsRemove blockers and create focus so teams can deliver predictable outcomesEnsure solutions are scalable, maintainable, secure, and aligned with CITY HOME’s modernization strategySupport incident response, root-cause analysis, and continuous improvement for production systemsManage performance, career growth, hiring, onboarding, and succession planning for team membersPromote a culture of ownership, learning, collaboration, accountability, and practical innovation What We’re Looking For 7+ years of software engineering experience2+ years leading or managing engineering teamsExperience supporting ecommerce, retail, marketplace, digital commerce, or customer-facing web/mobile platformsStrong experience with Node.js and modern API/service-based architecturesExperience with React Native or mobile application engineering teamsStrong understanding of modern web architectures, cloud platforms, CI/CD, observability, and production supportExperience working with cross-functional product teamsAbility to coach engineers, set expectations, and improve team performanceStrong communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholdersComfortable operating in a modernization environment with legacy systems, integrations, and evolving architecturePractical understanding of Agile delivery, engineering metrics, and continuous improvementFamiliarity with AI-assisted coding tools and how to use them responsibly in a professional engineering environmentStrong bias for action, with good judgment around quality, risk, security, and long-term maintainabilityValid Florida Driver License Preferred Experience Experience with composable or headless ecommerce platformsExperience with React Native, Node.js, React, Kubernetes, AWS, or similar modern engineering stacksExperience with payment, financing, OMS, ERP, CRM, or retail integrationsFamiliarity with SRE practices, production observability, incident management, and service reliabilityExperience leading teams through platform modernization or replatforming effortsExperience introducing AI-assisted development practices, coding assistants, automated code review support, or developer productivity toolsExperience managing distributed, hybrid, or vendor-augmented engineering teams What Success Looks Like In this role, success means your teams are clear, focused, and delivering meaningful ecommerce platform improvements with quality and consistency.
