Compensation 57,100.00 - 107,200.00 CAD Purpose Deliver high quality software and technical solutions in an agile environment to meet internal Sysco business partner and end customer requirements. Works across the full technology stack and demonstrates a flexible mindset and passion for programming. In this hands-on role, the Software Engineer works closely with Principal Software Engineers, Business Analysts, business stakeholders, and Project Managers to understand requirements, develop technical designs, and implement and test solutions that comply with business requirements and technical standards. The Software Engineer also provides development support for production systems and applications. Responsibilities Provide ongoing maintenance, support, and enhancements for existing systems and platforms. Collaborate cross-functionally with software engineers, business users, project managers, and customers to deliver solutions that meet business expectations. Work closely with other software engineers to elevate technology practices and consistently apply development standards and best practices. Adhere to architecture standards and software development best practices, including Test-Driven Development (TDD), code reviews, static code analysis, and secure coding practices. Write technical user stories and ensure non-functional requirements are met, including performance, scalability, resilience, and maintainability. Proactively resolve defects and manage technical debt. Develop and execute unit tests to ensure customer and business requirements are successfully delivered. Participate in sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives to support team progress and remove impediments. Collaborate with team members across the full software delivery lifecycle, including design, development, quality assurance, deployment, and production support. Provide recommendations for continuous improvement of systems, processes, and development practices. Apply software development methodologies within an agile environment. Work safely with minimal environmental impact and report all hazards, incidents, and environmental spills immediately to a Supervisor. Recognize and support personal and team safety by identifying and communicating workplace hazards. Perform other duties as assigned. Education College diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field is preferred. Experience Minimum of 5 years of IT experience. Experience with: AS400 technologies, including RPG, CL, DB2, ILE, and SQL; or Relational and NoSQL databases such as MongoDB and Amazon Aurora. Experience working with open-source frameworks and technologies. Experience using version control systems appropriate to the technology stack (e.g., Git). Experience with Test-Driven Development (TDD). Experience with additional programming languages or scripting technologies is an asset. Experience configuring and administering application servers is preferred. Experience in a distribution or supply chain environment is preferred. Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment. Strong attention to detail, demonstrated ability to learn quickly, and capacity to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
