Full-Stack Java Developer

Position: Full Stack Java Developer Location: Toronto, ON (2-3 days Hybrid) Contract: Long term We are looking for a Full Stack Java Developer to build and enhance modern web applications using Angular on the frontend and Java/Jakarta EE on the backend. The role also requires working knowledge of databases and practical familiarity with AI-assisted development tools and LLM application components (e.g., vector databases and orchestration frameworks). You will collaborate with product, QA, and DevOps teams to deliver secure, testable, container-ready solutions. • Develop and maintain SPA features using Angular 17+, TypeScript 5.x, and Angular Material / Material Design. • Build backend services using Java 17+ and Jakarta EE 10 (REST APIs, validation, security, integration patterns). • Design and implement API contracts, error handling, logging, and performance-conscious services. Write and maintain automated tests: Frontend: Jest Backend: JUnit 5 • Work with databases: create/modify schemas, write queries, tune basic performance, and support migrations. • Apply AI tools and patterns to improve productivity and/or product features: • Use AI coding assistants (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Windsurf/Devin) effectively and responsibly. • Integrate or support LLM-based capabilities using vector databases (e.g., ChromaDB or similar) and orchestration frameworks (LangChain or Haystack). • Use Git for version control and participate in code reviews and branching workflows. • Build and package applications using Maven containerize and run services with Docker. • Collaborate in agile ceremonies, contribute to estimations, and communicate progress and risks clearly. • Troubleshoot issues across the stack (UI, API, database, container/runtime) and contribute to root-cause analysis. • Develop and maintain SPA features using Angular 17+, TypeScript 5.x, and Angular Material / Material Design. • Build backend services using Java 17+ and Jakarta EE 10 (REST APIs, validation, security, integration patterns). • Design and implement API contracts, error handling, logging, and performance-conscious services. Professional experience delivering full stack applications with: • Angular 17+, TypeScript 5.x, Angular Material • Java 17+, Jakarta EE 10 • Testing experience with Jest (frontend) and JUnit 5 (backend). • Working knowledge of databases (relational preferred): SQL querying, joins, indexes basics, transactions, and data modeling fundamentals. AI enablement experience/knowledge: • Handson familiarity with GitHub Copilot and/or Windsurf/Devin • Understanding of vector databases (e.g., ChromaDB or similar) and typical RAG flows • Exposure to LangChain or Haystack concepts (chains/pipelines, retrieval, prompt management) • Strong fundamentals in HTTP/REST, JSON, authentication/authorization basics, and secure coding practices. • Proficiency with Git, Maven, and Docker in day-to-day development.
