This position is for a Senior Digital Developer to join our in-house development team working in a friendly and progressive environment. This role offers the opportunity to work on high-profile, public-facing digital services used by blood donors across England, including the Blood Donor Portal, Give Blood app and NHSBT websites. You’ll help design and build modern, cloud-based solutions using technologies such as C#, React, React Native and Python, alongside microservices, content platforms and emerging AI capabilities. The team also supports wider digital transformation across the donation journey, replacing legacy and paper-based processes with modern, integrated services. Main duties of the job Responsibilities The Senior Digital Developer will develop and deploy world-class Digital services, application software and database services according to NHSBT corporate business plan using the most appropriate tools and technologies from those approved by the Head of Digital. Your responsibilities will include: Produce high quality documentation for all NHSBT applications and any other applications developed in-house, and ensure they are kept up to date.To research and review new and emerging technologies, products, software and database tools, providing business opportunities and advantages to the organisation, and to bring these to the attention of the Head of Digital and other members of the Digital Team.To maintain existing applications, including collecting change requirements, identifying opportunities for improvement and running workshops.To assist the Head of Digital in formulating the Development strategy for the NHSBT, consistent with business strategy, values and objectives.To ensure that disaster recovery procedures are appropriate and liaise with Operations staff to ensure they are regularly checked and tested.To provide digital development and database support and advice to the Digital Team.Promote the development of analysis skills within the organisation by providing support and training for Digital and other NHSBT staff.To provide expertise and advice in the procurement of external (3rd party) systems and assistance in the overseeing of system implementation and service changes.To work with existing and new system suppliers, assisting them in the selection of the most appropriate technologies to interoperate with NHSBT systems and delivering the strategic aims of NHSBT.To work closely with the Business Intelligence and Data Management Department, providing them with software and database solutions and technical support. About You You may be required to travel with appropriate notice: Experience And Knowledge Direct proven experience of software development methodologies and database design, in both a Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle environment.Extensive knowledge and experience of the design, development, management and maintenance of information systems across an organisation.Specialised knowledge of software architectures across a wide range of industry standard platforms. Qualifications And Training MSc or Advanced knowledge and substantial proven experience to masters level in software development, with experience in the majority of: C#, .NET Framework 3.5+ inc.
