Senior Software Engineer – Securities Lending Platform London | Permanent | Up to £120,000 | Hybrid We are recruiting a Senior Software Engineer to help build a new real-time, event-driven securities lending platform within a global financial-markets business. This is a senior hands-on engineering role combining Java/Python development, platform architecture and external market-data integration, with direct exposure to traders and operations. The platform is being built around two key objectives: Workflow automation – streamlining reconciliation, risk management and reporting processesFront-to-back integration – bringing the full trading-to-settlement lifecycle into a single platform This is an opportunity to join at an early stage and have genuine influence over both the technology and the engineering standards used to build it. What you'll be doing Designing and developing Java server-side and UI componentsBuilding Python ETL and data-processing pipelinesDeveloping integrations with external vendors, market-data providers and financial systemsWorking with real-time and reference market data, including Bloomberg-related integrationsBuilding event-driven workflows using technologies such as KafkaWorking directly with traders and operations teams to turn business requirements into production solutionsOwning the design and delivery of technical and process workflowsContributing to architecture decisions and the strategic direction of the platformEstablishing engineering standards and development best practiceReviewing code and mentoring more junior engineersRepresenting the platform with internal stakeholders and external technology vendors Technology Java | Python | AWS | Linux | PostgreSQL | Kafka | Git What we're looking for Typically 7+ years' software engineering experienceStrong commercial experience with Java and/or Python, with Java particularly desirableStrong understanding of software engineering and application architecturePractical experience working with relational databases and SQLComfortable working in Linux environmentsExperience integrating applications with external APIs, vendors or data providersExperience contributing to or leading architecture discussionsAbility to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholdersExperience mentoring engineers and helping establish engineering best practiceParticularly useful experience Any experience within financial markets would be valuable, particularly: Securities lendingRepoDelta-1DerivativesPrime brokerageTrading platformsBloomberg or market-data integrations However, securities-lending experience is not essential if you are a strong engineer coming from a credible financial-services environment.
