The Opportunity Highspring is seeking a Senior Backend Developer to support a digital delivery initiative within the financial services sector. In this role, you will serve as a Java development specialist and contribute to the quality, performance, and efficiency of business-critical applications. You will apply strong technical expertise, collaborative problem-solving skills, and clear communication while helping the development team adopt sound engineering practices and continuously improve its delivery processes. What You'll Do Promote technical excellence across Java development initiatives.Participate in the design and architecture of software solutions.Apply Event-Driven Architecture and Domain-Driven Design patterns.Develop unit tests using tools such as JUnit.Help applications meet established quality and performance objectives.Deliver solutions within agreed timelines while maintaining high code quality.Foster cohesion and collaboration within the development team.Support and influence the adoption of Java development best practices.Identify opportunities to continuously improve development processes.Contribute to technical communities of practice. What You Bring to the Table Bachelor's degree with a specialization in Information Technology or a related field.At least five years of demonstrated experience developing with Java, Spring Boot, and Maven.Strong collaboration and communication skills.A structured and rigorous approach to documenting and organizing work.The ability to manage and deliver multiple priorities concurrently.A commitment to continuous learning and technical improvement. Core Skills Required Strong proficiency in Java and Spring Boot.Demonstrated experience with Maven.Knowledge of object-oriented design patterns.Knowledge of Event-Driven Architecture.Knowledge of Domain-Driven Design.Demonstrated experience with Test-Driven Development.Demonstrated experience with Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment.Demonstrated experience with AWS cloud services.Experience with DevOps tools, including Git, GitHub, Docker, and Snyk.Experience writing unit tests with JUnit.
