The role focuses on modern C++, multithreading, concurrency, performance optimization, and modernization of a large legacy codebase. The engineer will work closely with Architecture, QA, and Product Management while using AI-assisted engineering tools to accelerate refactoring, code analysis, and modernization. ## Key Responsibilities * Design and develop high-end **C++ components** for medical desktop applications. * Architect, implement, and review complex **multithreading and parallelization** solutions. * Optimize applications for performance, stability, scalability, and responsiveness. * Analyze and refactor a large existing codebase. * Identify performance bottlenecks and improve overall software quality. * Work with **Qt, CMake, Conan, MSVC, and embedded CEF**. * Help modernize legacy technologies including **MFC, ATL, Win32, and Delphi** toward modern C++ and current .NET. * Collaborate with Architecture, QA, and Product Management. * Use AI agents and tools such as **Claude Code** for code analysis, refactoring, and legacy modernization. * Contribute to shared AI agents, skills, workflows, and engineering practices. ## Required Qualifications * Several years of senior-level professional **C++ development** experience. * Experience with high-performance and highly parallelized desktop systems is preferred. * Strong ownership and end-to-end software development experience. * University degree in **Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Electrical Engineering**, or a comparable technical discipline. * Strong academic performance. * Deep knowledge of modern **C++14/17/20**. * Strong expertise in **multithreading and concurrency**. * Experience with debugging and performance tuning. * Hands-on experience with: * Qt * CMake * Conan * MSVC * CEF * Experience using AI tools in software engineering, ideally Claude Code or similar agentic coding tools. * Knowledge of AI pipelines and context engineering. * Fluent **German and English**, both written and spoken. * Strong analytical, structured, and problem-solving skills. * Proactive ownership and a strong interest in healthcare technology. ## What CGM Offers * **Mobile work:** Two days per week remote and three days onsite. * Fully equipped workplaces. * Company events including summer and Christmas celebrations. * Professional development through CGM's in-house academy and external partners. * In-house canteen with healthy food options. * Fitness center and weekly fitness courses. * Kindergarten at the CGM campus in Koblenz. * Corporate benefits. * Job bike option. * Company pension scheme. ## About CGM CGM is a healthcare software company operating across **19 countries with more than 9,000 employees**.
