Senior Backend Software Engineer / Technical Lead

Insura4u team develops and maintains the systems that power our digital membership platform and internal Admin Panel. Insura4u is a membership-based rewards platform, that allows users to access exclusive lifestyle perks in automotive, health, and travel. Insura4u platform is already live, and the mobile application is operational.Our backend supports key user, membership, payment, notification and administrative workflows. You are responsible for maintaining reliable, secure and scalable backend services, supporting production operations, and continuously improving the overall architecture and performance of the platform. You will work closely across Product and Engineering to ensure that technical solutions are aligned with both business and system requirements. Get To Know The Role: We are looking for a hands-on Backend Engineer / Technical Lead to join the Insura4u team.You will take ownership of our existing Laravel backend, investigate production issues, improve system stability and progressively strengthen the overall backend architecture.We value engineers who take initiative, think critically and are able to independently identify and solve problems rather than only working from assigned tickets. Responsibilities: Develop, maintain and improve backend services using PHP and Laravel.Investigate and resolve API, data, notification, performance and production issues.Perform root cause analysis across application code, database, logs, infrastructure and third-party integrations.Design and improve backend architecture for reliability, maintainability, security and performance.Build and maintain REST APIs used by the Insura4u mobile application and Admin Panel.Improve database design, queries, data integrity and duplicate prevention.Debug and modify existing production systems safely.Manage backend deployments across staging and production environments.Improve system logging, monitoring, audit trails and technical documentation.Participate in code reviews and maintain good engineering standards.Identify technical risks and recommend improvements where existing implementations can be strengthened.Work closely with Product and other developers to define technical solutions.Provide clear progress updates and communicate blockers or technical risks early.Take ownership of delivered work through development, testing, deployment and production verification. Requirements: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field.Minimum 3 years of hands-on backend development experience, with proven experience supporting production systems.Strong experience with PHP, Laravel, REST APIs and MySQL.Strong debugging, problem-solving and root cause analysis skills.Good understanding of database design, transactions, data integrity and query optimisation.Good understanding of software design principles, clean code and maintainable architecture.Familiarity with AWS, particularly EC2-based environments.Comfortable working with Ubuntu/Linux production environments.Good understanding of Git, CI/CD and deployment workflows.Familiarity with backend security practices including authentication, authorization, API security and secrets management.Able to investigate technical problems independently and propose practical solutions.Good communication skills and comfortable working closely with Product and Engineering teams.Proactive working style with strong ownership and accountability. Experience with Flutter / Flutter Web, Stripe, Firebase, Cloudflare, GitHub Actions or payment-related systems will be an advantage.
