Senior Mechanical Engineer – Building Consulting Location: Edmonton, Alberta Industry: Consulting Engineering / Building Design Employment Type: Full-Time This is an opportunity for an experienced mechanical engineer who wants more than simply designing projects. The ideal candidate will be someone who enjoys being involved in project leadership, client relationships, mentoring, technical direction, and the continued growth of a mechanical engineering practice. You’ll have the opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of building projects while taking on increasing responsibility within the organization. Lead mechanical engineering design for a variety of commercial, institutional, healthcare, residential, and mixed-use building projectsProvide technical direction and mentorship to junior and intermediate engineers and designersDevelop mechanical systems including HVAC, plumbing, hydronics, and related building servicesManage mechanical engineering projects from initial concept through detailed design, construction documentation, and contract administrationReview drawings, specifications, calculations, reports, and technical documentationCoordinate mechanical systems with architectural, structural, electrical, and other project disciplinesParticipate in client meetings and develop strong long-term client relationshipsProvide technical guidance during construction and respond to RFIs, site issues, and design changesAssist with project proposals, scopes, budgets, and schedulesContribute to business development and the continued growth of the mechanical practiceIdentify opportunities to improve internal design standards, processes, and technical capabilitiesHelp develop and mentor the next generation of mechanical engineers and designers What We’re Looking For P.Eng. designation in Alberta or eligibility for registration8+ years of experience in mechanical consulting engineeringStrong experience within the building design/consulting environmentExperience designing HVAC and mechanical systems for commercial, institutional, healthcare, residential, or mixed-use buildingsStrong understanding of applicable Alberta and Canadian building codes and standardsExperience with Revit, AutoCAD, HAP, or other relevant engineering/design softwareStrong technical design and problem-solving abilitiesExperience leading projects and/or mentoring other engineers and designersStrong communication and client-facing skillsAbility to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and competing prioritiesA desire to take on greater responsibility and contribute to the growth and direction of a mechanical engineering practice Why Consider This Opportunity?
