(Senior) Specialist Process Engineering General Description: MSD Animal Health develops and produces vaccines and pharmaceutical specialties for livestock, companion animals and fish. We have offices in more than 50 countries, 25 production sites and sell our products in over 150 markets and operate in a network of manufacturing sites and research and development facilities around the world. With more than 300 employees worldwide, the Global Engineering Solutions (GES) division is responsible for managing investment capital and designing and executing capital projects for our global organization. GES is organized in a Technology organization (responsible for the design of projects), a Delivery organization (responsible for the realization of projects) and a Project and Business Support organization. The Technology Center for our animal health organization consists of approx. 20-25 employees and has its home base in Boxmeer, The Netherlands. Purpose of the role: You'll report to the Technology Center AH Boxmeer Engineering Director and you'll be responsible for the engineering design, installation and qualification of complex manufacturing equipment, where operators can produce our products in a safe and compliant manner. Specifically, for Project BOND in the formulation area. The equipment (Beta Lactam formulation vessels, complex API powder handling isolator, downflow booths and some small auxiliary equipment) is mostly designed and under construction, however, some remaining challenges with last details and automation integration are still required. After that, the installation and commissioning and qualification is still required. As part of a matrix organization, you'll collaborate with a diverse group of engineers hailing from various disciplines - automation, process, mechanical, HVAC, civil, and commissioning & qualification engineers. You'll also be working alongside end-users, as well as with Delivery colleagues who will provide support in the form of project managers, project engineers, cost controllers, schedulers, and estimators. Collaborating with external partners will be a key aspect of your role as you strive to achieve designs that are not only cost-effective but also align with our design intent. You will build Quality and Safety into the design. The role encompasses adopting an end-to-end approach that embraces front-end loading (finished), execution (95% finished, but some remaining challenges), commissioning & qualification, handover, and post-handover activities. Main tasks and responsibilities: Lead the design efforts for complex manufacturing equipment and facilities;Act as a subject matter expert (SME) for the equipment in the Beta Lactam Formulation Area;Build and maintain close collaborations with GES, DMMD and end-user SME's;Develop and maintain relationships with design and construction partners throughout Europe;Support FAT's at vendor's premises;Lead the installation and commissioning and qualification period as the technical owner of the BL formulation area.Your profile: Bachelor's or master's degree in (Bio)Pharmaceutical engineering, Industrial Engineering, Process Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Food Technology required.5+ years of relevant experience in Pharmaceutical, Biotech, Food or High-Tech industries as a design engineer in capital projects. Experience with hygienic design, powder handling and Beta Lactam's are a pre.Familiarity with EudraLex Volume 4 Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) guidelines, EU GMP Annex 1, EHEDG, and ISPE guidelines.High-level insight into construction processes of pharmaceutical or food facilities and equipment integration in buildings.Excellent English language skills, knowledge of Dutch is a preference, but not a requirement.Willingness to travel for project assignments to vendor sites.Able to come to the Boxmeer site at least three days a week, but in the later phases fulltime presence will be required.
