Our client is developing a next-generation platform designed to support energy and utility providers in their digital transformation and operational processes. The role combines deep SAP Utilities expertise with emerging AI technologies such as Knowledge Graphs, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), intelligent indexing, and vector search. Key Responsibilities SAP Utilities & Architecture Provide deep functional and technical expertise in SAP S/4HANA UtilitiesUnderstand the typical SAP architecture and business processes of energy and utility providersWork hands-on with SAP Utilities systems and understand processes beyond a purely conceptual or consulting levelBring expertise in areas such as:Market CommunicationDevice ManagementBilling and invoicing processesMetering concepts and related processesIdeally, contribute at developer or technical architecture level where requiredUnderstand adjacent SAP products and technologies relevant to the Utilities environmentBridge Between Utilities & AI Work closely with Utilities consultants to translate business processes, data structures, and domain relationships into structured, machine-readable knowledgeDevelop and maintain Utilities-specific Knowledge GraphsStructure domain knowledge so that it can be effectively consumed by AI systemsHelp define and continuously improve the indexing strategy for AI and RAG applicationsAnalyze why information may not be correctly retrieved by AI systems and identify improvementsAct as a key interface between functional experts and the technical AI engineering teamAI & Innovation Explore and evaluate new approaches in:Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG)Knowledge Graph EngineeringVector SearchIntelligent IndexingAI-powered knowledge managementPrototype ideas and solutions using Python and relevant Machine Learning librariesEvaluate emerging AI technologies and assess their applicability to SAP UtilitiesContribute your own ideas for how AI can transform SAP implementations and Utilities processesHelp shape the technical direction of an innovative AI platform Requirements Essential Qualifications 5+ years of professional experience in the SAP Utilities environment, with strong practical expertiseAt least 3 years of experience working in UtilitiesDeep understanding of SAP S/4HANA UtilitiesStrong knowledge of typical Utilities processes and the SAP architecture of energy providersPractical, hands-on experience working with SAP Utilities systemsExperience with areas such as Market Communication, Device Management, Billing, and/or MeteringAbility to structure complex functional knowledge and translate it into models that can be consumed by technology and AI systemsStrong interest in Artificial Intelligence, RAG, Knowledge Graphs, indexing, and related technologiesWillingness and ability to learn, experiment, and work with emerging AI technologiesStrong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with both functional and technical teamsFluent German is mandatory, as the role involves working with German-speaking colleagues, customers, and documentationWillingness to travel approximately 30% for customer meetings and team collaboration at different locations Nice to Have Practical experience with PythonExperience with Machine Learning librariesHands-on experience with Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG)Knowledge of Knowledge Graphs or Graph Machine LearningExperience with Multi-Agent AIExperience working at the interface between SAP consulting and software engineeringExperience with SAP-related technologies and products used in the Utilities ecosystem
