Create Solutions that will enable a better tomorrow To further expand our Tunnels and underground structures discipline, we are looking for a Senior Engineer to join us. Working on tunnels and underground structure design, you’ll have the opportunity to work on some of the most prestigious infrastructure projects in the UK. Your key responsibilities will be: Conducting feasibility and options reportsCompleting designs for a range of civil engineering structures, including below ground structures and foundations Preparation of work for CAD TechniciansSite surveys and appraisals of various rail, water and/or utilities infrastructure schemes as appropriateChecking of drawings and supervision of Graduate Engineers Liaising with clients, attending meetings on-site, progress meetings and design review meetingsProject management, including cost/commercial aspects of projectAssisting in the production of pre-qualification documents, tenders and fee proposals as required Your skills. On top of that, you’ll: Be Chartered in either the ICE or IStructE or an equivalent institutionHave significant experience working on the design of tunnels, heavy civil and other complex underground structuresDemonstrate a proven record in the design of bored tunnels, mined excavations, stations, basements, and temporary worksHave knowledge of soil structure interaction principles and their application both in structural analysis (Lusas, Strand7, SAP 2000) and geotechnical analysis (Plaxis)Have some experience of motivating, supervising, and coordinating project teamsBe familiar with UK design standards, Eurocodes and CDM regulationsSound understanding of the CDM Regulations and be fully conversant with UK standards A place to work and so much more At COWI, we work together with our customers to shape a sustainable and liveable world.
