Description

The role and its impact We're building a brand-new Integration team to power automation at the heart of Xero. You'll design and build workflows and integrations that solve real business problems, removing genuine friction from how we operate. This is modern engineering work: applying software discipline through low/no-code and AI-native platforms, shipping fast, and seeing measurable impact within weeks, not quarters. Your focus will span the full spectrum: collaborating with stakeholders to understand their pain, translating manual processes into robust automated designs, shipping end-to-end solutions to production, and owning them through monitoring and support. You'll Go Bold by taking problems from conception through delivery, and Go Further by helping shape a team and technology practice that's still forming. The Team And How They Connect This is a brand-new team within our Enterprise Technology function, who support Xero’s internal and customer-facing systems. We prioritise open, transparent conversations where everyone gets heard. We rotate leadership and responsibility to keep learning distributed and ownership shared. And because the team is new, there's real room to influence how we work and potentially the tools we use. Initially, you will focus on Ramping up our existing platforms (SnapLogic, Tray) and our engineering standards including source control, observability, error handling, retries and change controlShipping your first automations end-to-end, from requirement through to a monitored, documented workflow running in productionBuilding working relationships with business stakeholders and learning to elicit requirements and translate them into robust automated designsContributing to quality reviews and participating in our incident response and on-call practices Where And How You Can Work This role can be based in Australia (East Coast) or New Zealand, we work a hybrid model with the flexibility to work from home combined with in-office collaboration. Here are some of the things we are looking for Hands-on experience building workflows, integrations, or automations (whether that's through software engineering, integration platforms or middleware tools)Comfort using AI tools to solve logic problems and automate tasks, paired with a clear-eyed sense of when a deterministic design is the right choice instead.Your skill at eliciting requirements and bridging technical execution with business needs means you translate what people need into what they should build. You own work through to a monitored, documented, supportable state. Shipping quality solutions rather than cutting corners to go faster.A growth mindset and comfort with ambiguity: you'll help shape the team's standards and patterns as they form, and you're motivated to take on increasingly complex work over time. Apply even if your experience isn't a perfect match! At Xero, we hire based on your skills, passion, and the unique perspective you can bring to enhance our culture and team.
