Description

Director – Front Office Quant Engineering London | £200-£220k base + discretionary bonus An opportunity for a senior Quant Developer or Front Office Strat to take a leading role within a growing Fixed Income trading business. We are working with a global financial institution that is investing significantly in its London trading capability and is looking for a senior quantitative technologist to take ownership of a key front-office platform. This is a highly visible role sitting directly alongside the trading desk, with responsibility for shaping the technology and quantitative capabilities supporting pricing and increasingly automated trading. The Role You will take senior ownership of the London capability, working closely with traders, a dedicated developer locally and an established quantitative team in the US. Rather than joining a large team to work on one isolated component, you will have broad responsibility for the platform and significant influence over its future direction. Your responsibilities will include: Taking ownership of quantitative development supporting the Fixed Income trading deskDeveloping and enhancing pricing and modelling capabilitiesWorking directly with traders to understand business problems and translate them into quantitative and technical solutionsHelping increase the level of automation across pricing and trading workflowsProviding technical direction and influencing how the platform evolvesWorking closely with global Quant and Trading teams to ensure the London capability aligns with the wider businessActing as a senior point of expertise across technology, quantitative development and the trading deskThe role will continue to evolve as the business increases its use of systematic and automated trading. What We’re Looking For We are looking for someone who combines strong quantitative development experience with genuine front-office markets knowledge. You are likely to come from a Quant Development, Strat or similarly quantitative front-office background within Fixed Income. Experience within Credit would be particularly relevant, although candidates from Rates, Macro or related Fixed Income markets will also be considered where there is sufficient understanding of Credit products and trading. You should have experience across areas such as: Fixed Income pricing and quantitative modellingBuilding or developing front-office pricing and trading technologyWorking with quantitative libraries and modelsElectronic or automated trading environmentsUnderstanding trading workflows and market structureDirect interaction with traders and other front-office stakeholdersTaking a business or trading problem from initial discussion through to technical delivery Java experience is highly desirable, although strong C++ or Python candidates will also be considered where the wider quantitative and trading experience is strong. We are also interested in speaking with technically strong Quant Traders who have been actively involved in designing models, algorithms or trading workflows rather than solely using existing systems. Why Join? This is an opportunity to take considerably more ownership than is typically available within a large established Quant or Strat team. The London capability is still developing, giving this person the opportunity to influence its direction, work directly with senior trading stakeholders and become a key individual within a growing Fixed Income business. It could be particularly attractive to someone who has developed strong quantitative and technical expertise within a larger institution but now wants broader responsibility, greater visibility and a closer relationship with the trading desk. There is also potential for an ambitious Quant Developer or Strat to move progressively closer to trading as the platform and systematic capability develop.
