Be part of shaping the E-mobility of the future! About The Role To reach our goal, we are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join our Backend Team. At Qwello, you will be responsible for architecting, designing, and implementing new backend services, primarily using Rust and Python, to support our expanding fleet of self-designed and built charging stations deployed across Europe. You will also develop backend-to-backend systems that connect our infrastructure with partner services, ensuring seamless integration and robust performance. The role demands a focus on reliability and craftsmanship, emphasizing automatic testability, resilience, and observability. Security considerations are integral to your work, aligning with best practices to safeguard our systems and user data. You will be an efficient engineer, committed to delivering high-quality solutions quickly. Your communication skills will enable you to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, share knowledge, and mentor junior members. You should be comfortable working in a startup environment, actively contributing to interdisciplinary projects, and eager to help shape the future of electric mobility through innovative backend solutions. Qualifications The ideal candidate will have proven experience as a Software Engineer, having successfully led or contributed to complex, large-scale projects. Expertise in Python is essential, with a strong track record of implementing robust, scalable solutions. Experience with Rust is highly desirable; candidates should be eager to learn and grow their skills in this language. A solid understanding of architecting and implementing distributed systems is required, along with hands-on experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, preferably utilizing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform. You should possess a proactive "make-it-happen" attitude, capable of self-organizing and leading initiatives in a dynamic environment with shifting priorities. Fluency in English is mandatory, and knowledge of German is a plus. Responsibilities Design and implement new backend services and serverless functions utilizing Rust and Python to support our charging infrastructure and partner integrations.Lead the transformation of system architecture to meet evolving business needs and scalability goals.Participate in strategic planning, code reviews, design discussions, and hiring processes to foster a high-performing engineering team.Maintain, optimize, and enhance the existing Qwello backend systems, ensuring high reliability and performance.Collaborate closely with partners to integrate their services with our platform, ensuring seamless interoperability and data exchange.Take ownership of features and services, continuously refining and expanding our backend capabilities as the company grows.Implement best practices for security, resilience, and observability to ensure robust and maintainable systems.
