Description

Network DevOps Engineer Location: Stevenage, Bristol or Bolton Salary: Up to £55,000 depending on experience Working Model: Hybrid, 2 to 3 days per week on-site Security: British Citizen only. Will need to be eligible for DV Clearance. An exciting opportunity for a Network DevOps Engineer to join a leading international defence organisation, helping modernise the way critical network infrastructure is developed, deployed and managed. You’ll work alongside experienced network engineers, bringing strong software engineering and DevOps practices into the network environment. This is an ideal opportunity for someone with a strong Python and automation background who wants to work on large-scale infrastructure within a highly technical environment. Key responsibilities Develop production-grade software and automation tools, primarily using Python.Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitLab.Develop automated testing approaches for network applications and APIs.Create and maintain Ansible automation for network configuration.Work with REST and GraphQL APIs and technologies including FastAPI, Django REST Framework and Pydantic.Apply modern software engineering practices including Git, code reviews, testing and modular development.Support the development of network Source of Truth platforms and automation.Collaborate with network specialists to improve infrastructure reliability and scalability.Help upskill colleagues and promote stronger software engineering practices within the team. What we’re looking for Strong Python development experience.Good understanding of software engineering principles and automated testing.Experience with REST and/or GraphQL APIs.Experience with Git/GitLab and CI/CD.Hands-on Ansible experience.Understanding of core networking concepts including IP, DNS, routing, switching, VLANs and TCP/UDP.Good understanding of DevOps and Agile methodologies. Experience with Cisco, Nautobot, PyATS, Linux/RHEL or OpenShift would be advantageous but is not essential. What’s on offer Up to £55,000 salary.Bonus of up to £2,500.Pension contributions of up to 14%.Paid overtime opportunities.Up to 15 additional days of Flexi Leave.Hybrid working, 2 to 3 days per week on-site.
