About Overwatch Overwatch Imaging is an imagery intelligence technology company working to bring sensor autonomy to time-critical airborne search, detection, tracking and monitoring missions. About This Role As a Senior Front-End Developer at Overwatch Imaging, you’ll be a critical player in our development team, working closely alongside designers and fellow front-end engineers. You’ll build and maintain feature-rich, modern web interfaces using frameworks like React, provide thoughtful technical feedback, and play an influential role in defining architecture. Bonus points if you bring experience with mapping libraries like Mapbox. Please note: this is an on-site position at our headquarters in Hood River, Oregon. What You’ll Do Collaborate closely with designers and other front-end developers to transform mockups, wireframes, and visual designs into polished UI experiences.Implement rich, responsive, and performant front-end features with modern frameworks (e.g., React, Vue, Angular), as well as HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript/TypeScript Conduct thorough code reviews and provide constructive feedback to peer developers to maintain quality and consistency Plus: Leverage experience with map libraries (e.g., Mapbox, Leaflet, etc) to support geographically focused UI featuresOptimize front-end performance through tooling (e.g., Webpack, Vite), code splitting, lazy loading, SSR, and accessibility best practices Collaborate with product managers and designers to ensure the technical feasibility of UI/UX and smooth integration of requirements Mentor junior developers and contribute to shaping frontend architectural vision, maintainability, and best practicesProactively identify and escalate risks, and communicate early to anticipate issues impacting delivery timelines What You’ll Bring Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience5+ years of front-end development experience—proven expertise building complex, scalable UIsDeep knowledge of JavaScript (ES6+), TypeScript, HTML5, and CSS3 Hands-on experience with modern frameworks such as React (preferred), Angular, or Vue.js Skilled with build tools and optimizations including bundlers, lazy loading, SSR, and performance tuning Experience reviewing and maintaining code, enforcing best practices and architectural standardsStrong collaboration skills—able to interface effectively with designers, PMs, and backend developersBonus if experienced with mapping libraries like Mapbox, Leaflet, or similar Optional but Valuable Familiarity with CI/CD integration, accessibility (a11y), security practices, and cross-browser compatibility Prior work on performance at scale, or contributions to internal frontend architecture standards Character Attributes Thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced, venture-backed startup business environmentMotivates and inspires teammates by demonstrating a prodigious work ethicCollaborates well in a small team environment with teammates and customersEnjoys hands-on work, learning new skills, and taking responsible risksTakes pride in seeing new products reach operational use quickly What You’ll Gain Ownership of high-impact, UI-centric projects alongside designers and engineersInfluence over architectural direction, tooling choices, and code quality in a modern frontend stackOpportunities to mentor and elevate other engineersA collaborative, design-minded engineering culture that values quality and innovation What We Offer Growth Opportunities: As a team member of a true startup, you will learn by doing and shape our future.
