Description

Job Title: Full-Stack Developer (Rust & WebAssembly) Office Location: 7303 Warden Ave. Markham, ON Employment Type: Full‑time Application Email: careers@superqubit.ai We are looking for a Full-Stack Developer (Rust & WebAssembly) to join our engineering team and contribute to the development of modern, secure, scalable software applications and platforms. The successful candidate will work across the frontend, backend, APIs, databases, and infrastructure layers, with Rust serving as an important technology across both backend services and selected frontend components through WebAssembly (WASM). This is an opportunity for a developer who enjoys working across the entire technology stack and is interested in building software where performance, security, reliability, and maintainability are important. The candidate will work closely with our engineering team to design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain production-quality software. You do not need to be a cryptography or QKD expert. Familiarity with these technologies is an asset, but the primary focus of this role is full-stack software development and integration. ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, test, deploy, and maintain full-stack applications and services.Develop backend services and APIs primarily using Rust.Develop selected frontend components using Rust and WebAssembly (WASM) where performance, security, or computational efficiency provides a meaningful advantage.Develop modern web interfaces using TypeScript/JavaScript and appropriate frontend frameworks.Integrate Rust/WASM components with modern web applications.Design and implement RESTful and/or real-time APIs.Design database schemas, queries, migrations, and data-access layers.Integrate frontend applications with backend services and APIs.Develop authentication, authorization, session management, and other security-related functionality.Build reusable, modular, and maintainable software components.Write clean, well-structured, documented, and testable code.Develop unit, integration, end-to-end, interoperability, and performance tests.Diagnose and resolve software, database, networking, and deployment issues.Participate in software architecture and technical design decisions.Contribute to code reviews and establish strong engineering practices.Work with DevOps and infrastructure components to deploy and operate applications.Monitor application performance, reliability, and security.Collaborate with backend, systems, cryptography, networking, and infrastructure engineers.Work with existing systems as well as develop new applications and services from the ground up. Programming RequirementsRust: strong professional experience developing production software, preferably including backend, systems, networking, or security-sensitive applications.TypeScript/JavaScript: strong experience with modern web application development.HTML5/CSS3: strong understanding of modern web standards and responsive interfaces.SQL: strong understanding of relational databases and database design.Python: experience with scripting, automation, testing, or tooling.Bash/Linux shell scripting. Frontend DevelopmentStrong experience with modern frontend development using technologies such as: ReactNext.jsVue.jsAngularOther modern TypeScript/JavaScript frameworksThe candidate should have experience with: Responsive web application developmentComponent-based application architectureState managementAPI integrationForm handling and validationBrowser securityAccessibilityFrontend performance optimizationCross-browser compatibilityModern frontend build and deployment tools Rust & WebAssemblyA key aspect of this role is the ability to use Rust in the frontend where appropriate. The candidate should ideally have experience: Developing Rust applications that compile to WebAssemblyDesigning frontend components that use Rust/WASM for computationally intensive or security-sensitive functionalityIntegrating Rust/WASM modules with TypeScript/JavaScript applicationsManaging communication between WASM modules and browser-based application codeUnderstanding the performance and security characteristics of WebAssemblyDetermining when Rust/WASM provides a meaningful advantage over conventional JavaScript/TypeScript implementationsThe expectation is not that the entire frontend will be written in Rust. The successful candidate should be able to choose the appropriate technology for each component while maintaining a coherent architecture. Backend DevelopmentStrong experience with backend and server-side development, including: Rust-based web services and APIsREST APIs and/or other service architecturesAsynchronous and concurrent programmingAuthentication and authorizationSession managementInput validation and secure error handlingService-to-service communicationBackground jobs and asynchronous processingLogging, monitoring, and observabilityPerformance optimization and profilingExperience with Rust frameworks such as Axum, Actix Web, Rocket, or equivalent is an asset. APIs & IntegrationExperience designing and consuming REST APIsUnderstanding of JSON and other data serialization formatsExperience with WebSockets or other real-time communication technologiesExperience with API authentication and authorizationUnderstanding of API versioning and backward compatibilityExperience integrating third-party APIs and servicesExperience designing interfaces between distributed software components SecuritySecurity is an important part of this role. The candidate should have a good understanding of: Secure software development practicesAuthentication and authorizationSecure API designSession and credential managementSecrets managementInput validation and sanitizationEncryption in transit and at restCommon web application vulnerabilitiesOWASP principles and security practicesDependency and vulnerability managementSecure handling of sensitive informationExperience developing security-sensitive software is an asset.
