Senior Backend Engineer

Job Description Ciklum is looking for a Senior Back End Engineer to join our team full-time in Poland. About The Role As a Senior Back End Engineer, you will be a technical leader responsible for architecting and building the backbone of our digital platform. You will drive the development of our core APIs and cloud infrastructure on AWS, with a relentless focus on security, performance, and scalability. Your role will be pivotal in making key architectural decisions, mentoring team members, and establishing best practices to ensure our services are robust, resilient, and capable of handling significant user traffic and data processing. Responsibilities Take ownership of the technical design for secure, scalable, and high-performance APIs and services on AWS, within a TypeScript-first ecosystemImplement robust security measures across the platform, including authentication, authorization (OAuth 2.0, JWT), data encryption, and vulnerability managementDrive technical decisions and promote best practices in API design, microservices, testing, and deploymentDevelop scalable backend services and clean, reusable frontend componentsOptimize services for maximum speed and low latency, and proactively identify and resolve performance bottlenecksMentor and guide team members, fostering a culture of technical excellence, security consciousness, and continuous improvementOwn and enhance our CI/CD pipelines to ensure efficient, automated, and reliable software deliveryCollaborate closely with Product and Design to translate business requirements into robust and secure technical solutions Requirements 5+ years of professional experience in backend developmentProven experience in designing, building, and maintaining secure, distributed systems on AWSStrong, hands-on expertise with TypeScript and Node.jsDeep understanding of API security principles and best practices (e.g., OWASP Top 10, rate limiting, input validation)Demonstrable experience with AWS services such as API Gateway, Lambda, ECS, SQS, SNS, and DynamoDBProficient with CI/CD practices and tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions)Hands-on experience with containerization using Docker and an understanding of orchestration (e.g., ECS, Kubernetes)Skilled in working with both NoSQL (e.g., MongoDB, DynamoDB) and relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL), including performance tuningExperience with monitoring, logging, and observability tools (e.g., CloudWatch, Datadog, Grafana)Strong problem-solving skills and a passion for code quality and technical excellenceUpper-intermediate or higher level of spoken and written English Desirable Hands-on expertise with React and Next.jsFamiliarity with event-driven architectures and microservicesFamiliarity with Infrastructure as Code (e.g., CloudFormation, Terraform)Working experience with .Net or PythonExperience with GCP and services like BigQuery What’s in it for you?
