Salary: £50,000 – £60,000 per annum
Location: Chester / Hybrid
The Opportunity
We are looking for an experienced Senior Frontend Developer with strong React and Next.js expertise to join an established digital transformation team who are currently going from strength to strength and undergoing a really exciting period of digital transformation.
This is a permanent opportunity for a Senior Developer who wants genuine ownership of frontend architecture and the opportunity to make a significant impact on a business-critical digital platform.
You’ll join the team at an important stage of the programme, helping to refactor and modernise an existing business-facing management platform used to support complex operational and management workflows.
The role is highly hands-on, with a strong focus on modernising the frontend using the latest capabilities of Next.js, while improving performance, stability, scalability and long-term maintainability.
About the Role
As a Senior Frontend Developer, you’ll take ownership of key areas of frontend development and architecture.
You’ll work closely with other engineers, UX/UI specialists and stakeholders to deliver high-quality, scalable digital products.
You’ll be comfortable working autonomously, making technical decisions and contributing from day one, while also being a collaborative member of a wider delivery team.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the refactor of an existing frontend application using Next.js App RouterImplement and optimise Server Components and Server ActionsDevelop scalable, maintainable UI components using React and Next.jsIntegrate frontend functionality with an OpenAPI-driven Node.js backendImplement and optimise client-side and server-side caching strategiesImprove application stability, performance and overall user experienceWork closely with UX/UI designers to translate designs into high-quality frontend solutionsCollaborate with backend engineers to align frontend implementation with API contractsContribute to the refinement of user stories, requirements and delivery plansParticipate in stakeholder discussions and presentations where requiredContribute to frontend architecture and technical decision-making
