Senior Full Stack Software Engineer - AI Applications

We are seeking a Senior Full Stack Software Engineer to join a growing AI Transformation Hub in Toronto. This is a hands-on engineering role for a strong full stack developer with a frontend bias—approximately 60% frontend and 40% backend. You will build modern, scalable applications and help turn emerging technology into production-ready solutions used by business and technology teams. The ideal candidate is deeply experienced with React and modern frontend engineering, while also bringing strong backend development experience in either Java/Spring Boot or Python. AI is an important part of the technology environment, but this is not an AI research or ML specialist position. You do not need to be an AI expert; however, you should be AI-aware, understand how AI can be applied in software development, and be comfortable discussing practical applications of AI intelligently. What You’ll Do Design, develop, and deliver scalable full stack web applications, with a strong focus on React and modern frontend architecture.Build intuitive, high-performance user experiences using React and contemporary JavaScript/TypeScript development practices.Develop and integrate backend services and APIs using either Java/Spring Boot or Python.Own features end-to-end across the frontend, backend, APIs, integrations, testing, and production delivery.Work on greenfield initiatives and help shape technical approaches, architecture, and engineering standards.Collaborate with engineers, data scientists, product partners, and business stakeholders to translate complex requirements into practical technical solutions.Apply sound software engineering practices including automated testing, code reviews, CI/CD, Git, monitoring, and production support.Evaluate and incorporate modern technologies where they provide meaningful value to products and engineering workflows.Use AI-assisted development tools and AI capabilities thoughtfully, and understand how emerging AI technologies can improve software delivery and user experiences.Mentor other engineers, contribute to design and architecture discussions, and help raise engineering quality across teams. What You Bring Strong senior-level experience building production-quality full stack web applications.Deep hands-on React experience and strong knowledge of modern frontend development patterns, state management, performance, and user experience.Strong backend development experience in either Java/Spring Boot or Python. Candidates should have a clear primary backend strength in one of these technologies.Strong understanding of RESTful APIs, microservices, distributed systems, application integration, and scalable software architecture.Experience taking applications from concept through development, testing, deployment, and ongoing production support.Proficiency with modern software development practices, including Git, automated testing, CI/CD, and code quality standards.Experience working with cloud technologies; AWS experience is highly desirable.Ability to operate effectively in a greenfield, fast-moving environment where requirements and technical approaches may evolve.Current awareness of AI/ML and generative AI, with the ability to explain how AI can be applied practically in software development or products. You do not need to be an AI specialist.Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work across engineering, product, data, and business teams.Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience. Nice to Have Experience with TypeScript and modern React ecosystem tools.Experience with AWS and cloud-native application development.Experience with Python frameworks such as FastAPI or Django.Experience integrating LLM APIs, generative AI services, or AI-enabled developer tooling into applications or workflows.Experience designing asynchronous workflows, complex integrations, or high-scale APIs.Experience in financial services, ratings, analytics, or another complex business domain.Experience mentoring engineers or serving as a technical lead on projects.
