This role will support and enhance a mission-critical operations platform that has evolved over more than ten years and remains central to daily business operations. The ideal candidate understands the complexity of telecommunications systems, operational workflows, and production support environments. You will contribute to both legacy modernization and new feature development using PHP, Laravel, Vue.js, TypeScript, and Tailwind CSS. This position requires a collaborative engineer who can work effectively within an established codebase, evaluate technical tradeoffs, participate in code reviews, validate peer development, and deliver reliable software without disrupting critical operational processes. Key Responsibilities: Design, develop, test, and maintain features for a mission-critical telecommunications operations platform.Work effectively within a mature, approximately ten-year-old application and codebase.Develop backend services and application functionality using PHP and Laravel.Build responsive, maintainable user interfaces using Vue.js, TypeScript, and Tailwind CSS.Diagnose and resolve complex application, data, workflow, and production issues.Apply strong telecommunications knowledge to translate operational requirements into reliable software solutions.Use GitLab to manage source control, merge requests, issue workflows, releases, and development documentation.Evaluate existing functionality before making changes to preserve backward compatibility and operational stability.Participate actively in peer code reviews and provide clear, constructive technical feedback.Help quality-assure peer development through functional testing, regression testing, and validation of acceptance criteria.Collaborate with developers, quality assurance personnel, product owners, operations teams, and telecommunications subject-matter experts.Use AI-assisted development tools responsibly to accelerate coding, debugging, testing, documentation, and technical analysis.Create and maintain automated tests, technical documentation, implementation notes, and support procedures.Contribute to application modernization, technical-debt reduction, performance improvements, and architectural planning.Support production releases and assist with troubleshooting when operational issues arise.Required Skills: Professional software development experience supporting production web applications.Advanced knowledge of telecommunications systems, terminology, operational processes, or network-service workflows.Strong experience with PHP and the Laravel framework.Experience developing modern frontend applications using Vue.js.Proficiency with TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.Experience using Tailwind CSS or a comparable utility-first CSS framework.Experience working with GitLab, including repositories, branches, merge requests, code reviews, and issue management.Demonstrated ability to understand, maintain, and safely enhance a large, mature, mission-critical application.Experience using AI-assisted software development tools in a professional engineering workflow.Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis skills.Experience reviewing code and testing or validating work produced by other developers.Ability to balance modernization goals with reliability, maintainability, and business continuity.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while independently managing assigned issues and deliverables.Availability to work primarily during Eastern or Central Time Zone business hours.Preferred Qualifications: Experience with Kubernetes, container orchestration, Docker, or containerized application deployment.Experience modernizing legacy applications or incrementally migrating mature systems.Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment processes.Experience with RESTful APIs, relational databases, asynchronous processing, caching, and application monitoring.Familiarity with test automation, including unit, integration, regression, and end-to-end testing.Experience supporting high-availability operational tools or systems with strict uptime requirements.Knowledge of secure software development practices and production observability.Experience working in Agile, Scrum, Kanban, or issue-driven development environments. “All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, genetic information, or status as a protected veteran.
