DevOps/DevSecOps Lead

Working Hours: Monday – Friday (10am – 7pm) Location: Central Salary: Up to $10,000 + AWS + VB We are seeking a hands-on DevOps / DevSecOps Lead to lead the design, implementation and continuous improvement of secure, scalable and highly available platforms hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS). You will provide technical leadership across AWS infrastructure, CI/CD, Infrastructure-as-Code, security automation, observability and production operations. You will work closely with software engineers, security teams, architects and product stakeholders to embed security and operational resilience throughout the software development lifecycle. Key Responsibilities AWS Cloud and Platform EngineeringLead the design, implementation and management of secure, scalable and highly available AWS cloud environments.Design AWS solutions using services such as EC2, ECS, EKS, Lambda, RDS, S3, CloudFront, Route 53, API Gateway and Elastic Load Balancing.Establish and maintain multi-account AWS environments using AWS Organizations, Control Tower and Service Control Policies.Develop reusable Infrastructure-as-Code modules using Terraform, OpenTofu, CloudFormation or AWS CDK.Manage containerised applications and workloads using Docker, Amazon ECS and Amazon EKS.Implement effective networking architectures using VPCs, subnets, Transit Gateway, NAT Gateway, VPC endpoints, security groups and network ACLs.Drive cloud optimisation initiatives covering performance, resilience, scalability and AWS cost management.CI/CD and AutomationLead the design and implementation of CI/CD pipelines for application build, testing, security scanning and deployment.Implement deployment automation using AWS CodePipeline, CodeBuild, CodeDeploy, Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD or GitHub Actions.Establish automated release controls, approval workflows, rollback mechanisms and environment standardisation.Develop automation scripts using Python, Bash, PowerShell or a similar scripting language.Apply GitOps and DevSecOps practices to improve deployment speed, consistency and security.Identify and automate repetitive operational processes to minimise downtime and human error.AWS Security and DevSecOpsEmbed security controls and automated security testing throughout the software development lifecycle.Integrate SAST, DAST, Software Composition Analysis, container scanning, secrets detection and Infrastructure-as-Code scanning into CI/CD pipelines.Implement identity and access controls using AWS IAM, IAM Identity Center, permission boundaries, Service Control Policies and role-based access.Manage encryption and secrets using AWS KMS, Secrets Manager and Systems Manager Parameter Store.Implement security monitoring and threat-detection capabilities using AWS Security Hub, GuardDuty, Inspector, Config and CloudTrail.Protect applications and infrastructure using AWS WAF, Shield, Network Firewall and appropriate security controls.Establish vulnerability-identification, prioritisation, remediation and reporting processes.Support security reviews, threat modelling, penetration testing, risk assessments and audit-remediation activities.Ensure AWS environments comply with organisational security policies, regulatory requirements and cloud security best practices.Reliability and Production OperationsLead production-support activities, including monitoring, incident response, problem management and root-cause analysis.Implement full-stack monitoring and observability using Amazon CloudWatch, CloudTrail, X-Ray, OpenSearch and relevant Application Performance Management tools.Establish operational dashboards, alerts, service-level indicators and service-level objectives.Develop backup, disaster-recovery and business-continuity strategies using AWS Backup, RDS snapshots, S3 replication and multi-region architectures.Improve application and infrastructure resilience through automated recovery, scaling and failover mechanisms.Lead major incident response and coordinate timely resolution across internal teams and external vendors.Oversee production deployments and on-call support arrangements.Technical LeadershipLead and mentor DevOps, DevSecOps and AWS cloud engineers.Provide technical direction and review AWS architectures, Infrastructure-as-Code, pipeline configurations and security controls.Establish DevOps, cloud security and production-operations standards.Create reusable AWS platform components, automation templates and engineering guidelines.Coordinate with application, architecture, security and product teams to deliver cloud initiatives.Manage external vendors and AWS service providers where required.Communicate technical risks, operational performance and improvement plans to stakeholders and senior management.Maintain documentation covering architecture, configurations, deployment procedures, incident response and disaster recovery. RequirementsDegree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or a related discipline.At least 7 years of experience in DevOps, DevSecOps, AWS cloud engineering, platform engineering or production operations.Demonstrated experience leading DevOps, cloud or platform-engineering teams.Strong hands-on experience designing, deploying and operating production workloads on AWS.Strong understanding of AWS networking, compute, storage, databases, containers, IAM and security services.Experience building CI/CD pipelines using AWS CodePipeline, CodeBuild, CodeDeploy, Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD or GitHub Actions.Strong experience with Terraform, OpenTofu, CloudFormation, AWS CDK or Ansible.Experience with Docker, Amazon ECS or Amazon EKS.Proficiency in Python, Bash, PowerShell or a similar scripting language.
