Your new role
As a Software Engineer, you will play a key role in the design, development, integration, and support of software systems underpinning sophisticated operational platforms.
Working within a multidisciplinary team of software, systems, hardware, and engineering specialists, you will help deliver reliable, high-availability solutions in a complex technical environment.
Key responsibilities include:
Developing and maintaining C++ applications across Windows and Linux environmentsSupporting system integration, testing, verification, and validation activitiesBuilding software for real-time and distributed processing systemsEnhancing visualisation tools and user-facing applicationsTroubleshooting and resolving complex software and system issuesContributing to DevOps initiatives, including CI/CD pipelines and automationCollaborating closely with engineering teams to deliver robust and scalable software solutionsDriving continuous improvement across software quality, performance, and engineering practices
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful, you'll bring:
At least 3 years' experience in software engineering or software development rolesStrong commercial experience developing applications in C++Experience working across both Windows and Linux environmentsPython development experience for automation, scripting, or data processingStrong understanding of software testing methodologies, including unit, integration, and system testingExperience supporting high-availability or mission-critical software systemsExposure to distributed processing and/or real-time systemsKnowledge of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, source control, and deployment automationExperience working with software that interfaces with hardware, firmware, or complex engineering systemsDesirable experience includes:
User interface and visualisation tool developmentScientific, observatory, defence, space, or advanced engineering environmentsSafety-critical systems and systems automation
