As we continue to scale our AI capabilities, we're looking for a Senior AI Engineer to lead the design, delivery and operation of enterprise-grade AI solutions that drive real business value. This is a hands-on technical leadership role for an experienced engineer who thrives on solving complex challenges, shaping architecture, and building high-quality software at scale. You'll combine deep software engineering expertise with advanced AI knowledge to deliver innovative solutions across RACV's Azure platform while mentoring and uplifting the capability of the broader engineering team. What you'll be doing Lead the design, productionisation and end-to-end delivery of complex full-stack applications and services on RACV's Azure platform.Design and build scalable, reliable solutions using TypeScript, Python and Azure cloud technologies.Develop, deploy and operate AI-enabled applications, including LLM-powered and agentic AI solutions.Drive architecture decisions, engineering standards, code quality and technical best practice across teams.Partner with Data Scientists, ML specialists and platform teams to integrate and operationalise AI capabilities.Lead AI evaluation, testing and optimisation practices to ensure quality, safety and performance in production.Act as a technical authority on AI security, governance and responsible AI practices.Mentor engineers through design reviews, knowledge sharing, coaching and technical leadership.Contribute to RACV's AI engineering capability by promoting modern AI-native development practices and tools. What you'll bring Technical expertise 5+ years' experience designing, building, and operating enterprise-scale software solutions with 3+ years of hands-on AI engineering experience delivering scalable AI products, platforms and tools using modern AI/MLtechnologies.Advanced software engineering skills across TypeScript/JavaScript and Python.Strong experience delivering cloud-native applications on Microsoft Azure.Expertise in system design, productionisation, observability, reliability and operational excellence.Experience with infrastructure-as-code solutions such as Bicep and modern CI/CD practices.Strong understanding of APIs, event-driven architectures, microservices and enterprise integrations. AI & modern engineering capability Proven experience delivering production AI solutions using LLMs, RAG architectures and agentic AI patterns.Experience with orchestration frameworks such as Langchain (Deep agents, LangGraph) LlamaIndex, PydanticAI, Semantic Kernel, or similar.Strong understanding of prompt engineering, harness engineering, context management and AI evaluation frameworks.Knowledge of AI security risks including prompt injection, data leakage and model governance.Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor or similar. Leadership qualities Strong technical leadership and engineering judgement.Ability to translate complex business requirements into scalable technical solutions.Experience mentoring and developing engineers through coaching, pairing and design reviews.Exceptional stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
