Description

We are seeking an experienced Principal Software Engineer to join a large-scale technology environment on an initial 12-month contract, with the potential for a further 12-month extension. This is a senior, hands-on engineering role suited to someone with experience across AWS, DevOps, Infrastructure as Code and container platforms, combined with the ability to provide technical leadership, influence engineering direction and work closely with business and technical stakeholders. The role can be based in QLD, ACT, VIC, NSW or SA, with hybrid working arrangements requiring a minimum of three days per week in the office. The role You will play a key role in the design, development, deployment and ongoing support of cloud and data infrastructure within a complex enterprise environment. Working closely with engineering teams and business stakeholders, you will help shape technical solutions, establish engineering best practices and support the delivery of highly available, scalable and secure platforms. Responsibilities will include: Leading the design, development and support of cloud and platform infrastructureDesigning and implementing scalable solutions within AWSBuilding and improving CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practicesDeveloping Infrastructure as Code using TerraformSupporting Kubernetes and container-based platformsEstablishing engineering standards and integration best practicesProviding technical leadership and guidance to engineering teamsPrioritising and coordinating complex technical deliveryWorking closely with stakeholders to understand requirements and define technical solutionsContributing to an Agile, collaborative engineering environmentTroubleshooting complex platform and infrastructure issuesProviding high-level technical advice and recommendations About you We are looking for an experienced Principal, Lead or Senior-level engineer with strong hands-on cloud and platform engineering capability. You will ideally bring: Extensive hands-on experience designing and managing AWS infrastructure and servicesStrong experience with Terraform and Infrastructure as CodeDeep experience with Kubernetes, Docker and container orchestrationStrong knowledge of DevOps and continuous delivery practicesExperience with tools such as GitLab, GitHub, Artifactory and JiraStrong knowledge of Git and version controlHands-on programming or scripting experience, ideally across Python, JavaScript and/or GolangExperience designing and supporting complex CI/CD pipelinesStrong understanding of cloud networking and infrastructureExperience working within Agile delivery environmentsThe ability to provide technical leadership while remaining hands-onStrong stakeholder engagement and communication skillsExperience with any of the following would also be highly regarded: PostgreSQL or MySQLMicrosoft AzureHashiCorp VaultCloud networking and securityMulti-cloud environments Due to the requirements of this engagement, applicants must be Australian citizens and must be able to obtain a Negative Vetting Level 1 (NV1) security clearance.
