About The Role In this role, you will join a global digital solutions company partnering with a world-leading technology vendor to drive AI enablement for enterprise customers. You will work within a cross-functional engineering environment, building and evolving Java-based platform services that connect front-end applications with a broad ecosystem of national and ministry systems. As a Senior/Lead Java Engineer, you will take on a hands-on technical leadership role, combining software development with technical mentorship and architectural decision-making. You will contribute to mission-critical solutions running on a modern cloud-native stack leveraging Azure Kubernetes Service, GitOps practices, and distributed system architectures. Responsibilities Act as a hands-on technical leader while actively contributing to the codebaseLead a team of 2โ€“5 Java engineers, providing technical guidance, mentorship, and daily engineering supportDesign, develop, and maintain platform services, including APIs, integrations, identity management, caching, and event-driven workflowsTake ownership of solutions throughout the entire software development lifecycle, from design and implementation to deployment and production supportDrive architectural decisions and ensure their successful implementationEnsure high code quality through code reviews, refactoring initiatives, and engineering best practicesDevelop resilient integrations with complex external systems using scalable and fault-tolerant patternsCollaborate closely with architects, DevOps engineers, and business stakeholdersImprove system performance, reliability, observability, and operational excellenceContribute to technical solution design and support pre-sales initiatives when requiredBuild and operate services running on Azure Kubernetes Service and cloud-native infrastructureSupport AI-enabled solutions deployed in regulated and security-sensitive environments Requirements 7+ years of commercial experience in Java development, including at least 2 years in a Tech Lead or similar leadership roleStrong hands-on experience with Java 21/25, Spring Boot 3/4, Spring Security, Spring Data, and MavenProven expertise in designing and developing scalable REST APIs, including versioning, idempotency, error handling, and rate limitingExperience integrating distributed systems using resilient patterns such as circuit breakers, retries, dead-letter queues, and outbox patternsStrong knowledge of caching solutions and strategies, including Redis, TTL policies, cache invalidation, and read-through patternsHands-on experience with relational databases, particularly PostgreSQL, including schema design, indexing, and query optimizationFamiliarity with search and indexing platforms such as Azure AI Search or ElasticsearchExperience with OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, and federated identity solutions such as Entra External ID, Azure AD B2C, Keycloak, or Auth0Practical experience with asynchronous messaging platforms, including Azure Service Bus, Kafka, or RabbitMQExperience working in Kubernetes-based environments and with Azure services such as AKS, API Management, Key Vault, and Log AnalyticsUnderstanding of observability practices and reliability engineering principles, including OpenTelemetryExperience with GitOps methodologies and tools such as GitLab and Argo CDFamiliarity with Infrastructure as Code tools, particularly TerraformStrong code review, mentoring, and technical leadership skillsExcellent communication and documentation skills with an advanced level of English SoftServe is an equal opportunity employer.
