About the Role CGM is looking for a Senior Software Architect (m/w/d) to join the Ambulatory Engineering Architecture Team and take architectural responsibility for one or more AIS-DE product lines. You will balance long-term technical health with short-term delivery needs while designing scalable, secure, and maintainable solutions across a diverse technology landscape. The role spans C++ desktop applications, Java and Python services, Kubernetes, cloud-native architecture, and AI-native systems. You will work closely with Engineering, Product Management, and Security, drive modernization initiatives, coach engineers and technical leads, and help establish reusable architecture patterns, standards, and best practices. Key Responsibilities Own software architecture for one or more AIS-DE product lines. Design scalable, secure, and maintainable solutions across heterogeneous software environments. Architect solutions spanning C++ desktop systems, including ALBIS, MEDISTAR, and Turbomed, as well as Java, Python, Kubernetes, and cloud-based services. Collaborate closely with Engineering, Product Management, and Security teams on architectural decisions. Lead modernization initiatives, including cloud-native and AI-native architectures. Define and document architecture decisions, target architectures, and technical roadmaps. Establish reusable architecture patterns and reference implementations. Coach engineers and technical leads on architecture and software design. Contribute to the development of the architecture community, principles, and standards. Incorporate AI tooling such as Agents, Skills, Workflows, Pipelines, and Harnesses into architecture concepts. Design systems that effectively leverage AI-assisted and agentic technologies. Balance architectural quality, maintainability, security, and delivery requirements. Provide hands-on technical guidance and drive complex architectural decisions. Required Qualifications Several years of experience as a Software Architect or Solution Architect. Proven architecture responsibility within large, distributed SaaS or Enterprise systems. Strong decision-making and technical leadership capabilities. Deep expertise in modern software architecture. Strong understanding of Microservices, Cloud-Native Design, Security-by-Design, Eventing, and Integration Patterns. Broad technical knowledge across C++, Java, Python, Kubernetes, and cloud technologies. Proven effective use of AI in Software Engineering. Fluent written and spoken German and English. Strong communication skills and technical credibility. Hands-on mentality, strong problem-solving skills, innovation mindset, and proactive approach. Preferred Qualifications Outstanding university degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a comparable technical field with very good academic performance. Practical experience with Claude Code or comparable agentic coding tools. Experience with AI Agents, Skills, and Workflows. Experience designing AI Pipelines, Harnesses, and Context Engineering at system or architecture level. Experience with healthcare software or eHealth environments.
