As a Staff Software Development Engineer in Medicare Technology, you will serve as a senior technical leader responsible for designing, developing, and delivering enterprise-scale solutions that support critical business capabilities across Medicare and healthcare technology platforms.
The Staff Software Development Engineer is a highly skilled technical leader who drives the design, development, and delivery of enterprise technology solutions.
This individual leads complex initiatives, champions engineering best practices, mentors team members, and collaborates across business and technology teams to build innovative, scalable, and reliable solutions that advance CVS Health's mission and strategic objectives.
The ideal candidate possesses expertise in modern full-stack application development, cloud-native architectures, DevSecOps practices, API and microservices design, data integration, and operational excellence.
This individual is a self-starter who can influence technical direction across teams, resolve complex engineering challenges, and deliver solutions that provide measurable business value.
Responsibilities
Designs, develops, and implements digital solutions and systems by applying advanced technical expertise to architect and code software applications, conduct system testing and debugging, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and contribute to the overall technical direction and innovation of digital engineering projects.Leverages expertise to design and implement efficient and scalable solutions that meet business requirements and quality standards.Contributes to solution design and architecture discussions, collaborating with architects and senior engineers.Provides input on technical feasibility, performance optimization, and scalability considerations to ensure that the overall solution meets the desired objectives.Participates in code reviews and ensures adherence to coding standards, best practices, and quality guidelines.Communicates and coordinates with team members to ensure alignment, provide technical insights, and contribute to decision-making processes.Contributes to the adoption of best practices, new technologies, and tools to enhance productivity, efficiency, and code quality.Participates in knowledge sharing activities, such as code reviews, tech talks, and workshops, to foster a culture of learning and collaboration within the team.Works with other developers and team members to implement complex features, enhance existing functionality, and ensure the delivery of high-quality code.Provides guidance and mentorship to junior developers, helping them improve their technical skills and grow professionally.
Required Qualifications
7+ years work experienceExpertise in designing, developing, and supporting enterprise web applications using C#, .NET, and ASP.NET CoreExperience building modern web applications using Blazor and related front-end technologiesExpertise in full-stack application development, including business services, APIs, databases, and UIAdvanced proficiency with Microsoft SQL, including data modeling, query optimization, stored procedures, and performance tuningExperience designing, developing, and consuming RESTful APIs and microservicesExperience designing, building, unit testing, and integration testing of a full stack applicationPractical experience integrating applications/components with one or more cloud providers (Azure, AWS, GCP)Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines, source control, and DevSecOps practices with GitHub and GitHub ActionsStrong understanding of software design patterns, secure coding practices, automated testing, and application monitoringExperience leading technical design discussions, conducting code reviews, and mentoring developersProven ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues while driving continuous improvement and operational excellenceExperience working in Agile/Scrum environments and collaborating with cross-functional business and technology teamsExperience working with CoPilot and MCP servers to build, review, and document complex workflows

Healthcare, insurance, enrollment, or claims system experienceExperience working with Jira and ConfluenceExperience with Oracle DatabaseExperience with DB2Experience with MongoDB or other NoSQL databasesExperience with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes
Education
Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience (HS diploma + 4 years relevant experience)
Pay Range
The Typical Pay Range For This Role Is
$106,605.00 - $260,590.00
This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls.
The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors.
This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
