Full Stack Data Engineer (data-leaning hybrid)
About the Company Our client is the digital solutions and analytics arm of a large, multi-sector international group.
The wider group spans industries including finance, automotive and steel, which gives the business genuine stability and shields it from any single-sector downturn.
The team builds data-intensive applications across a broad range of client sectors, so one month you might be developing for agriculture and the next for automotive or aviation.
The Role This is a hybrid data engineering and full-stack role within a small, close-knit team.
You will own and build data-intensive applications end to end, with the centre of gravity on the data: pipelines, integration and platforms, plus the back-end services and application layer that sit on top.
It suits someone early in their career who wants real breadth and ownership rather than being boxed into one layer, and who enjoys variety across projects and clients.
Please note for this role they are looking to interview asap with the view to have someone in role in the last week of September, so availability to interview at short notice and start then is preferred.
Key Responsibilities
Build, operate and optimise data pipelines and data platforms across a hybrid cloud environmentDesign and develop data-intensive applications, including back-end services, APIs and database integrationsDevelop and maintain databases, data warehouses and data lakes, with an eye on quality, reliability and governancePrepare and structure data for analytics, dashboards and AI solutionsTake ownership of existing applications, including support, maintenance, debugging and continuous improvementManage deployment pipelines, version control and CI/CDCollaborate with consultants, analysts, project managers and clients to turn business needs into working solutions
Essential Experience
Strong proficiency in Python and SQLWorking knowledge of AWS, with real comfort in AWS a strong advantageHands-on data integration experience, building data pipelines and ETL or ELT processesBack-end development experience, including API design and database interactionsVersion control with GitStrong written and spoken English, and a proactive, self-motivated approach
Desirable
Some front-end experience, enough to find your way around a UI (React, Next.js)Exposure to Snowflake or DatabricksFamiliarity with dbt, Power BI or similar analytics toolingAwareness of machine learning, AI or agentic AI conceptsAgile experienceJapanese language skills are a real plus, as the team works with Japanese clients
