CLOUD ENGINEER Location: Malta Employment: Permanent Salary: 55,000 - €65,000 Ready to take ownership of serious infrastructure? We’re looking for an experienced Cloud Engineer to join a highly skilled infrastructure team and take ownership of virtualisation, compute, storage, networking and automation across a complex enterprise environment. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys solving infrastructure challenges end-to-end — from architecture and deployment through to optimisation, troubleshooting and continuous improvement. If you’re passionate about VMware, automation and building reliable infrastructure, this could be your next move. 🔧 WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING Design, deploy and maintain enterprise infrastructure primarily across VMware vSphere, VMware Cloud Director, VMware NSX and VMware vSAN.Manage and optimise compute, storage and networking across on-premises environments.Work closely with technical teams on infrastructure design, implementations and customer-facing projects.Drive cloud and infrastructure optimisation, improving performance, efficiency and cost.Establish and maintain infrastructure standards across compute, VMware, storage, networking and security.Automate provisioning, monitoring and infrastructure management using IaC and scripting.Monitor infrastructure health, performance and capacity.Take part in incident response, troubleshooting and root-cause analysis.Solve complex virtualisation and infrastructure problems.Maintain infrastructure in line with security and regulatory standards, including ISO 27001. 🛠️ WHAT YOU’LL BRING Essential: 5+ years of hands-on VMware infrastructure experience.Strong knowledge of VMware vSAN, VMware Cloud Director and VMware NSX.Strong scripting and automation skills using PowerShell, Python or similar.Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools.Solid Linux and Windows Server administration experience.Strong experience with enterprise backup solutions such as Veeam.Excellent understanding of networking principles and routing protocols.Familiarity with ITIL processes and best practices.Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.Ability to work independently and take ownership.Comfortable working directly with customers and technical stakeholders. ⭐ NICE TO HAVE Experience with Proxmox or other hypervisor technologies.Experience with VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF9).Experience driving infrastructure automation and reducing manual operational work.Experience working in environments where security, reliability and compliance are critical. 🧠 THE MINDSET WE’RE LOOKING FOR You’ll thrive in this role if you: Enjoy solving infrastructure problems end-to-end, rather than simply firefighting.Take ownership and can operate with minimal supervision.Believe in documentation, standards and repeatable processes.Want to move towards automation-heavy infrastructure engineering.Enjoy working in a fast-paced technical environment.Have a challenger mindset and aren't afraid to question existing processes and drive meaningful change. 🌍 WHY THIS ROLE?
